Lots. We just signed Elvis Merzlikins as well, Alex Texier just came over and is currently tearing up the AHL, Liam Foudy's still waiting for his contract as is Trey Fix-Wolansky, Vladislav Gavrikov should be coming over next year and Veini Vehvilainen might be showing up also...

Seriously, when we said "we didn't actually mortgage our future", we really meant it. :)

TFW has an ELC

Blue Jackets sign Fix-Wolansky to entry level contract

Good for them. I was hoping the flyers would take a look, but he would be a roster crunch player.

He has some upside. Pretty big kid at 6’3 200+lbs that plays physically. He won’t chase a hit or go over the top, but he’ll throw a check.

He has a really high defensive IQ. I can’t say the same offensively. He also seemed to hit the developmental curve a little late and slow. Not the best skater, but it will be serviceable in a B6 role. I only watched him a couple times and the last game before the frozen 4 he got kicked out for a pretty blatant boarding which would go against what is said up there lol.

Still... he’s a smart player with great defensive play. To me, he’s a 4C that can shut down play. Somewhat like Pierre Eduard Bellemare did on the flyers a couple years ago. He looks to be a PK specialist. If he can find his game offensively... that could be a steal for the Wild.

Low-risk, high-reward type player there. Can really only help to have him if you have a spot.

It’s a one year deal for the rest of this season only. Not sure the purpose of that, maybe it’s like a try out contract or something. Not really holding my breath that he’ll be here long or in the NHL.

It’s very hard to prove if you belong in the first 3-4 games... especially during this time of year.

If a 4C spot is open, it could very well be his. If Fenton plans to keep Fehr on board, Sturm could easily find employment elsewhere.

Again, low-risk, high-reward type player. If you give him some time to show what he has... you could be surprised. Has the body/strength of a NHL player and toolset, just don’t know how it shapes up.

Per Russo, he's 23 so he could only be signed to a 1 year deal. We'll be able to re-sign him as a RFA this summer.

Sturm captained Clarkson to a NCAA Tournament appearance this season and had 45 pts in 39 games. Hobey Baker finalist. Worth a shot.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for.

Fine with the signing, was just curious why it was only 1 year.

The only fake names are already on our roster. (I mean, c'mon. "Boone Jenner". Who names their kid that? And "Ryan Dzingel" is so obviously fake...)
I actually knew someone named Boone! I can see that being real lol. The Veini Vehvilainen (sorry if I misspelled) is a pretty unique name

He will be an rfa and only minnesota can re-sign him in the summer. With one year of pro he cant even get an offer sheet. The wild secure his rights but he can get a real contract and not an elc from them in the summer
