Dan Duquette built the team that beat the curse BUT Theo rolled the dice when he traded Nomar which was a gutsy move and also picked up Dave Roberts.

John Henry/Tom Werner are not lovable BUT they have overseen the Sox winning the World Series FOUR TIMES since taking over in 2002.

Where ownership miscalculated was the pull of the announcers. Sean McDonough was replaced by Orsillo but Don and Jerry Remy hit it off with numerous giggle fests during games. Tom Werner didn't like that as he wanted NESN to be professional like ESPN.

What drives Red Sox ownership crazy is the Patriots now being the #1 franchise in New England and the Red Sox are a distant #2 today.
Even if the pats fall off a cliff after Brady/Bill there is not much they can do to regain number 1 after 6 titles. If there ever comes a day where Fenway park gets a true expiration date the last few seasons would have a lot of fanfare though.

How many years does Fenway have left is impossible to pin down.

The park we know today was mostly rebuilt in 1934 after a fire.

Remembering the great Fenway Park fire

John Henry has said numerous times that a new ballpark will be the next owner's responsibility.

But let's be realistic -there is no longer any parcel of land in the Back Bay or downtown to build. Most likely they would need to rebuild on the existing site and use Gillette Stadium for a year or two.

Owners aim to get Red Sox under luxury tax, and are looking outside for a baseball ops leader - The Boston Globe

Red Sox principal owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner expressed a desire to get the Red Sox under the $208 million luxury tax threshold in 2020, and that they will likely hire a new baseball operations leader from outside of the organization to help do it.

Henry and Werner met with members of the media Friday evening and offered their first comments since Dave Dombrowski was fired as the president of baseball operations on Sept. 8.

Manager Alex Cora, who followed up a World Series title in 2018 by falling short of the playoffs, will also remain as the field manager no matter who is hired, Henry said.

Henry praised Dombrowski, saying he was “the right choice at the right time,” but that he realized shortly after winning the World Series that he and Dombrowski weren’t necessarily on the same page about the future direction of the franchise.

‘There was a difference, I think, in how we thought we should move forward,” Henry said ahead of the first game of the Red Sox’ final home series of the season.

Henry would not elaborate on the differences, however.

Rachel Phelps will never allow that to happen.

I just happened to pass by NESN when it started.

They basically blamed injuries for no postseason and said they'd be there otherwise.

Both of them remind me of the passive "just go get 'em" Oakland A's owner in Moneyball.

It also looks like they found some high school kid to fill in for O'Brien tonight. I'm sure he's upset he couldn't be there to kiss some ass.
