Does the Berube victory put to rest "the game has passed him by" narrative on Torts? Both like aggressive forechecks and physical play and playing veterans.

I don't think so. I think Berube's veterans are all good players and he doesn't really have a bunch of young guys to staple to the bench. Obviously whatever message Berube preached it worked. Also the 'veteran" Binnington saved the Blues' bacon.

Offer sheets no longer taboo, but Blue Jackets can't take...

?????????????????????????

Wasn't it reported at one time we offered Panarin 10+? If we only offered 9, then I'm furious.

The odd part of that to paragraph to me is..

Given his age, our prospects coming up, and his past salary... I also find it hard to believe we would have offered Bob 8 years/$72 million ... if we had I'd think he would have taken it by now, hurt feelings or not.

I agree I would be shocked if it was accurate on BOB.

Gudas for Niskanen.

Flyers are going to be SCARy next year if Carter Hart is what they think he is.

Nah, that was the Hurricanes. Then they finally broke out. I think if Carter Hart is good, the Flyers could win the Metro.

Agreed.

The Flyers goaltending was so poor last season that a solid netminder could make a world of difference. They used 8 goalies last season.

If the Jackets get 2018-19 Flyers-type goaltending next season, then they'll be challenging New Jersey for the bottom spot in the division.

Goaltending ain't everything, but it's a hell of a lot of it.

Marchenko is not going to dev camp again. Wonder who won't let him this time. Big dog ate his skates?
This feels more and more like another 2nd pick wasted.

NEW R-A-W OFFENSE

Brick by Brick

Anderson-Dubois-Bjorkstrand
Foligno-Jenner-Atkinson
Bemstrom-Wennberg-Texier
Robinson-Dubinsky-Nash

That's 9 "top 9" forwards.

Because they got 32 old Niskanen?

Niskanen brings a RHD PP specialist to a team with loads of good LHD PP guys. Provorov, Niskanen, Ghost, and Sanheim are all pretty good top 4 defenseman. They have lots of potential.

Marchenko is not going to dev camp again. Wonder who won't let him this time. Big dog ate his skates?

That is really odd. Wonder whats happening.

If Jenner is our 2c, then I'm afraid we'll be back to advanced scouting for the 2020 lottery picks

Such short memories based on literal faulty perception. Don't understand how people see versatility as negative.

Jenner has easily been (at any given time) the 2nd most important/impactful/valuable center for probably 80% of the time the past 3-4 years. PLAYOFFS "EVERY" YEAR. And he's only 25 still.

Per the mains, Jets management is listening to offers for Ehlers; their fans are thinking the team is looking for a top-4 defenseman in return. The guy is 23 and has six years left on his deal at an average cap hit of $6 million. I'm intrigued.

If we can get him for one of our second pair D I think it's an easy yes. I would hesitate to do Werenski without an add from their side, but I can't say that deal wouldn't make us a better team. (edit: I think that deal might be a bad idea in the long run).

I watch a lot of Jets. Ehlers is super fast and fun to watch. He can take care of the transition duties for his line. He's got good all around puck skills and vision but nothing special, his skating is really the main event. He's reed thin and has struggled in the playoffs. He'd nonetheless be a great complement to our forwards as a transition/playmaking buzzing LW. And give us two Danes, something I don't know if any team has ever had.

First, there was the recent tip that the Blackhawks had approached the Columbus Blue Jackets regarding defenseman Ryan Murray. While Murray isn’t a sure bet due to his injury history, he has looked like a top-4 defenseman when healthy. At his age and with his upside, he might be worth taking a shot on. According to a league source on Friday, that discussion hasn’t moved further.

Powers: What I'm hearing about the Blackhawks' efforts to...
