Dont want to bring up "taxes" again but they are always saying TB attracts the big free agents because of taxes. Which big FA did we bring in? Doesnt seem like the big markets are having to worry much about the no in state tax teams if they are landing big FAs like Tavares and Panarin. FL didnt get a discount with Bobrovksi. Such a joke.

Because it only matters when Nashville and Tampa do it, because they're successful teams.

But no one bats an eye at cash rich MTL trying to front load and SB a contract so heavily that a smaller market team would be forced to lose a player over it.

Taxes only work for Tampa.

Vegas did it. And they have been successful.

That would mean Montreal actually drafting intelligently. That's been a hit or miss proposition because they usually trade defensemen to us only for French speaking selfish wingers.

I was looking at their upcoming rfas. They dont have anybody coming up that looks offer sheet worthy.

Point would have to sign one first and I thought that's why they decided to go with Aho instead? Either way that would look bad on point to his teammates who are signed to reasonable contracts for the betterment of the team. I doubt he signs one.

We should go after Justin Faulk. He has 1 year left on his deal, so he'll be off the books next summer. He'd also be cheaper than some other options, and with Montreal offer sheeting Aho, they may try and dump some salary. Plus they have a plethora of young defensemen to replace him with.

Faulk is definitely a target. Just a matter of how good JBB thinks he is. He has regressed from a few years ago. Also, Carolina will have to take back salary. The 4.8M is too much for us to absorb. They're gonna have to take a Gourde or Palat. Is one year (possibly more) of Faulk worth it? Or is Risto a better target?
