Pens have a 1st, Buff 4th, 5th. 7th, and LV 7th. They also don't have a 2nd next year as well due to MAF expansion trade.

Yea they could really use some 2nd's/3rd's this and next year.
Cuz you could nab someone like this kid:

Oh, I have no issues with that, but how can a guy like that not be an NHL regular. The reach is a big part of it if you watch him, he protects the puck well and he can come away with the puck. There really isn't a lot of wasted movement even if the play dies he's where he needs to be, and when the puck does make it through he's pretty strong on it. Having the hockey sense to know where to be makes up for any negatives in speed. The skill is evident. On a team lacking Center depth he shouldn't see AHL ice, but you could say here with the abundance of C's he could.

At worst I see him as a future C moving forward because guys like Bjugstad are being paid a lot and that's a position I think Lavoie can fill on the cheap. He just keeps going in their playoffs. PPG and a GPG at that.
i'm sure he'll go in the first, it's just that I think others have as high/higher up side and less risk. if we were picking later I would pick him.

His recent surge will have him in the top 20, and it will be best for him to be taken by a team who'll use him right off the bat in a middle 6 position to allow his transition to ease into the NHL. That's one thing I'm not sure of, for any of them really to make the jump with confidence. That pressure to produce from the start.

Hope he succeeds, he kind of reminded me when McDavid exploded just before he became an NHLer. Not on the same platform of course with McDavid and his speed. There's more than one way to flourish in hockey/the NHL. His size gives him a little advantage that way.

I forgot to post this the other night when Carolina moved on. Here's the updated draft order:

1 Devils
2 Rangers
3 Blackhawks
4 Avalanche (from Senators)
5 Kings
6 Red Wings
7 Sabres
8 Oilers
9 Ducks
10 Canucks
11 Flyers
12 Wild
13 Panthers
14 Coyotes
15 Canadiens
--- Playoff Line ---
16,28-31 Avalanche
16-17 Golden Knights
17-18,28-31 Stars
17-19,28-31 Senators (from Blue Jackets)
17-19,28-31 Sabres or Ducks (from Blues)
18-20 Rangers (from Jets)
19-21 Penguins
20-22 Kings (from Maple Leafs)
21-22,28-31 Sabres or Ducks (from Sharks)
22-23 Islanders
23,28-31 Bruins
24 Predators
25 Capitals
26 Flames
27 Lightning
28-31 Hurricanes
29 Conference Finalist
30 Stanley Cup Finalist
31 Stanley Cup Winner

Best case scenario for the Pens right now would be the Avs and Blue Jackets winning their series. Stars vs Blues doesn't make a difference, as the above already factors in that either one of them winning bumps up the Pens.

Yea, things aren't lookin' too good on #19.
Theres a chance @ #20 but COL or CBJ need to win 2 in row...

I'm really keen on getting another 1st rounder somehow. Hopefully Phil's return brings that.

Even if we can't find guys to trade for with two first rounders, we'll still end up with two potentially significant prospects for a prospect pool that's all but completely barren.

Good lord that's terrible.

I thought they had their 3rd.

Lack of picks is just one of the downfalls of going for it all every season. Luckily it's resulted in 2 Cups in 2016/2017.

It's also resulted in the Pens arguably having a bottom 5 prospect pool, with not much hope of improving it this draft.

Yeah but Brassard and Reaves took a chunk. At best they were 3rd and 4th liners.

If we can get a 1st+middle-six forward for Phil I'd be super happy. Getting Arizona's 14th would be awesome (I wonder if we could package 14+20 to get into the top 6 or 7 if someone falls :naughty:)

Then either make a big signing to replace that production or trade trade one of the firsts in a package.

I do find it funny how everyone is sitting here getting excited about having a pick and knowing JR there's a not insignificant chance he moves that the draft for something crazy.

Or spends it on a 6 foot 4 defenseman with no talent.

Last draft seems awesome so far so holding out hope but yeah I’m super concerned they’re gonna draft a guy like Vlasic 20th overall.

Certainly right about JR moving the pick but theres alot of good talent in the 1st round this year, imo.

With Allvin at the helm, if they only have that #20-21, i wouldn't be surprised at all if it's a Scandinavian D-Man.

Soderstrom, Broberg, Seider, Heinola, Thomson, Bjornfot, Honka.

Personally, i don't think any of those kids would be a bad pick.

I’m not sold on Bjornfot but Heinola or Broberg would be great.

Bjornfot's numbers certainly don't jump out at you but he's a very good defender, imo.
I think there'll be better D there at our pick tho.
Something in the realm of Heinola, Robertson or Seider.
With a maybe on a York, Broberg, Soderstrom or Harley sliding that far down.
Certainly wouldn't be upset with either of them, thats for sure.
