Semien almost had a Travis D’Arnaud moment in Chicago

Giants are about to fall under .500 and the run differential suggests they are very fortunate it's only 1 game under.

That July hot streak masked a lot of deficiencies and it cost them some good prospects they would have gotten for Bumgarner and Smith.

(Dials cell phone....ringing)

"Hello, Theo? KBIB here... Yes, the real KBIB. You gotta tell Madden NOT to play Javy against the A's. It's giving the Cubs and unfair advantage of dominance. It's bringing up the GCF stats.....GCF? Why.....good clean fun, of course."
Semien is everything you guys wished Russell would become and never did.

I will never understand why Marlins traded him

Because they’re dumb, cheap and he wasn’t anywhere near as good in Florida.

It’s not even so much they traded him, it’s the horrible return they got back for him and Stanton that makes the Fish a dumpster fire.

Is Semien Eric Chavez 2.0?
That's actually a very good comp. Both were trash defensively before Ron Washington and both became great after. Semien is statisically one of, if not the best defensive ss right now.

Good thing the Cubs got Baez then, huh?
And you still have Russell.

Imagine having both Baez and Semien, instead of a guy who would rather bash women instead of baseballs.

He didn't want to be there anymore after they traded Stanton & Ozuna, so the team had to get what they could for him.
They didn't have to do anything. He was under team control for years and wouldn't stop playing baseball just because a few friends got dealt.

Marlins sold way too early and low and got absolutely torched. No other way to put it.

The team was rebuilding and traded everyone away, he requested a trade, they most likley wouldn't have been competitive in his time under contract. They had to trade him.

I mean, I think they got realistically close to the best deal they could have received for him. Yelich wasn't even an MVP level player in Miami, he was an All-star level player who transformed into an MVP caliber one.
