Risker and safe was used fin tribute for the yesterday's debate of this two words. Nothing negative was meant for my part. Both of this Russians worth to be picked. Niko is a player which old-school scouts player likes. Spiro is a player which new-school scouts likes. Why ?
He's going to make the NHL IMO.Is Broberg good enough defensively to make up for a scenario where his offense doesn't translate?
He's going to make the NHL IMO.
But then again, i said the same thing about Juolevi.
Yeah, but its in the AHL. I guess he was in line with what I was saying he'd be.I thought Juolevi's been better of late, no?
Craig BuffoonButtons mock draft has the Russian going to Florida and us passing on newhook. What say you?
2nd round is way too early, theres good goalies to be had all over the draft.Unpopular question of the year....how about Pyotr Kochetkov in the 2nd round?
This is what makes him so intriguing. At worst he’s a great defender who can rush the puck and has a big shot.Is Broberg good enough defensively to make up for a scenario where his offense doesn't translate?
And at best hes a grest defender who can rush the puck and has a big shot. This is what makes him so intriguing. At worst he’s a great defender who can rush the puck and has a big shot.
Really it’s somewhere between Edmonton Jeff Petry and current Jeff Petry. I’ll take that at 15 every time. And at best hes a grest defender who can rush the puck and has a big shot.

hey Mrb1p...whaddaya think of Jeff Petry?

Its ****ing pathetic as a 15th overall pick. Petry himself was a 2nd rounder and cost us a 2nd.
Brook, Romanov and Fleury are all tracking better than that or similar and they were 2nd round picks. In fact, you just made a very strong case to not pick a Dman in the 1st round.
Meanwhile, guys like Newhook, Dorofeyev, Kaliyev, Caufield could all be impact forwards. Youre going to let that opportunity go by because your small mind goes "Huuurrr Sizzeeurrrrr" ? Lawd.
Ds like Heinola, Kolyanochok, Seider could literally turn out to be 1Ds, and youre going to let that go by... ? Why?
Exactly.
Granted, the 2006 draft was awful. Especially for defensemen.Jeff Petry is the 2nd best Dman from the 2006 draft after 1st overall pick Eric Johnson, and probably goes top 15 in a re-draft. If you can get him at 15 it's not a bad pick by any stretch of the imagination.
Absolutely, and not to get into semantics, but even in a deeper defensive draft like in 2008, he still cracks the top 15/20 IMO. Point is, people romanticize the draft and getting a top 4 d-man outside of the top 10 is not something to sneeze at.Granted, the 2006 draft was awful. Especially for defensemen.

AmenWas at the game tonight and Im not interested by Lavoie at 15. Hes starting to be a good pick around 22-25 but at 15 there are better options with as much upside and way less bust chance.
Just the way he looks around and carries himself you can tell he has a disdain for hard work and grinding. Nhl is grinding 90% of the time. His overall hockey IQ seems average , good in the offensive zone but efforts seems to come in spurts (drouin style). Was constantly cross checking and did injure a player with a sneaky dirty hit like 8 seconds after the puck left.
Will be curious to follow his development but hopefully its gonna be with another team.
Ive seen Mantha at the same age and Mantha was a much better offensive player.

I don't know, but he sure has better tools than Broberg to turn into that 1D. Ultimately, he's most likely going to miss something too, but he's got a much better chance than Broberg.Kolyachonok is gonna turn into a 1D?
