Without any major trades, this is what I want to see out of camp...

Marchand-Bergeron-Heinen
Debrusk-Krejci-Pastrnak
Johansson-Coyle-Studnicka/Senyshyn/prospect
Nordstrom-Kuraly-Kuhlman
Wagner

Grzelcyk-Mcavoy
Vaakanainen-Carlo
Chara-Clifton
Lauzon

I think they either trade Krug to move up in the draft or for a first line RW. I’d prefer the immediate help.

The off season will be interesting no doubt.

I see them either moving Krug or Krejci out to bring in some young talent and also clear up some cap space or possibly they could buy out Backes.

At this point I would see what it’ll take to move Backes. Buying him out doesn’t save them much cap space.

I don’t think they’re trading Krejci, he’s not part of the problem. Getting someone talented to play with Krejci is part of the solution.

I can see them moving Krug. They have Vaakanainen in the wings plus a couple other guys. All of these younger defensemen are bigger than Krug and that’s a plus going into future playoff runs. Krug should have a lot of value and be able to return a top line RW, like Wideman + 1st for Horton and Campbell.

Yeah you're right buying out Backes is a bad idea.

Assuming no major trades or signings....

Marchand - Bergeron - Studnicka
Heinen - Krejci - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Coyle - Senyshyn
Nordstrom - Kuraly - Wagner

Just going full youth (would never happen, but I always like to see how it would look)

Marchand - Bergeron - Bjork
DeBrusk - Krejci - Pastrnak
Frederic - Coyle - Senyshyn
Lauko - Studnicka - Heinen

The full youth lineup would be a lottery team at best.

Bjork is nothing special and where is the 4th line that kicked ass this season?

Yea no.

We'd be out of the playoffs by December with this line up.

This lineup is better than the one we had before the deadline last year, especially the forwards. The other option is trade Krug for a top 6 right wing line Kessel, but I’m not sure if they can keep Johansson in that scenario.

The line up is bad.

No way in hell is Wagner the 13th forward and certainly not for Kuhlman or any of the rookies you've got on the 3rd line.

I can confidently say that Studnicka and Frederic will be the last 2 cuts in camp especially if they re-sign JoJo.

Also, none of the rookies you have slotted in are on the PK.

Maybe, but you have to bring guys like Senyshyn in eventually. If I could make whatever moves I wanted I’d clear out Backes and Miller to resign Johansson at a reasonable number and trade Krug for a top line RW. That’s a lot of moving pieces so I’m not sure it’ll happen. I think it’s realistic to see a rookie forward in the lineup for parts of the year.

As for Wagner, you’re probably right. He’d be in the rotation for sure, but Kuhlman also looks ready to make an impact.

I don't have to bring any of these prospects in eventually. Pretty sure sure a few of them will be traded in short order.

I'm not trading Krug and I'm certainly not sold on Kuhlman or Senyshyn.

I think people need to take a step back and stop overreacting to what happened last week.

You just lost game 7 of the finals and you want the Providence Bruins to take the place of that team? Too answer your question it would look terrible. Actually both line ups are terrible, instead of improving the team you are putting a player with 10 pro games on the top line and a guy who scored 14 with your number 2 LW all season.

Who is on D Willy Sherman and Cam Clarke?

Then who are you hoping is Krejci’s RW next season if you don’t want a rookie and won’t trade a valuable player for a difference maker? Was Chiarelli overreacting when he traded Wideman and a 1st for Horton?

I'm hoping we re-sign JoJo to try him there.

I'm not trading Torey Krug, I'm just not.

Mainehockey33's lineup is ... basically the same lineup we just iced in the finals. Studnicka for Backes. Krug into limbo. I guess if Krug is the difference between the finals and the lottery, we had better keep him; which we should.

Absolutely ******* not. Were you around for Kessel part 1? 8 million dollar Phil the thrill? For a 60 point D who plays with heart and is one of the leaders on the team? For a lazy, unmotivated slug like Kessel. I would rather bring in Alex Kokolachev.

So the guy that could have won the Conn Smythe and has two cup rings has no heart?

Yeah, I was here for part one. He was a streaky goalscorer that always showed up in the playoffs. He's improved since then. If you know of any better RW's available I'm all ears.

Kessel's cap hit is only 6.8M because Toronto is retaining on his deal already. I wouldn't trade Krug for him, but this is absolutely f***ing comical. Kessel is an unmotivated slug, yet has produced at over a PPG pace the last two seasons, is a proven playoff performer, and has two Cups to his name. What an embarrassing post, per usual.

If you have to trade a player the caliber of Torey Krug to get this mythical RW for a 33-year old Krejci it's probably time to stop searching high and low for a RW for Krejci.

Trading Wideman, who the fans were ready to run out of town, isn't comparable to moving Krug, whose a much better player today than Wideman was in 2010.

Wouldn't mind seeing Senyshyn for a cup of coffee here and there to see how he is doing.
Otherwise we'll have the constant " bring Senyshyn up".
Hopefully Senyshyn will up his game next season.

Ok, then trade for a RW for Bergeron and move Pastrnak down. At this point it's less about getting a RW for a certain player, and more about a need for that sniper you were talking about the other day.
