I'm going off of memory, but with Crunch camp about to start, maybe look forward to seeing these guys as possible invites:

Cody Donaghey, Clint Windsor, Colby McAuley, Brent Pedersen, Hunter Fejes, Mathieu Foget, and/or Jake Marchment.

2019 7th round pick McKade Webster named captain of the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL)

“This year’s team is a veteran group and any number of players could have fulfilled the role of team captain,” says Gamblers Head Coach/General Manager Pat Mikesch. “The choice of McKade wearing the “C” was based on his leadership qualities and the respect his teammates have for him.”

Crunch play their 1st preseason game tonight on the road vs Rochester.

per Syracuse Hockey (@syrhockey) | Twitter:

- Wedgewood will start and Martin will be the back up. Condon and Domingue will be healthy scratches

- veterans Conacher, Mueller, and Gaunce are also expected to sit tonight

"Wearing a letter at the University of Minnesota is really one of the greatest honors a player can earn when you look back at our program's rich history and see all of the legends who have done it," Motzko said. "There's a lot of responsibility in having that "C" on your chest, and it means even more to have that distinction come as a decision by the other guys in the locker room. I think our guys picked two excellent captains in Tyler Nanne and Sammy Walker – two guys who bleed Maroon & Gold. As a coaching staff, we have a lot of confidence in Tyler and Sammy and their ability to lead the team on and off the ice."
A forward from Edina, Minn., Walker was the 2018-19 Big Ten Freshman of the Year – the first Gopher to earn the honor -- and a unanimous Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection after leading all conference newcomers with 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 37 games. The forward was also honored as Minnesota's Frank Pond Rookie of the Year. Walker was selected in the seventh round (200th overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

"It's a huge honor to be named a captain for this program…especially looking back at all the past captains who have played here over the years," Walker said. "We have a ton of leaders on this team, it's not all about wearing a letter, but obviously I'm really honored and excited to get the season going.
Maybe Walker should mentor Matthews :sarcasm:

I also noticed Minnesota has freshman Jack Perbix on their team. He is the brother of Nick. That should be an interesting story line if they happen to face St. Cloud in a December tournament.

Surprised Jack Perbix didn't follow his brother to St. Cloud. They're a very well run and coached program as well as two of their top scorers graduated and Poehling went pro. There was an opportunity to be a bigger contributor right away. Think at Minnesota he'll be a little further down the pecking order. The kid looks like he needs 3-4 years anyway so waiting a little longer shouldn't hurt too much.

Crunch win 4-1.

3 point night for Somppi. 2 points for Stephens and Abbandonato

Somppi has been looking like an AHLer this pre-season.

Jimmy Huntington looks like he could use some time to adapt to the pro game, maybe Orlando would be the better fit for him right now.

G Spencer Martin to Orlando. OSB could still stash Windsor and Fucale, but keep one on IR.

Don't like this move. Martin played well in his preseason game and has shown to be a decent AHL goalie. Domingue has no future here and Condon before missing almost all of last year was trending down. Would much rather have Martin as the Crunch backup, move Domingue for a bag of pucks if needed and then loan Condon to another AHL team. Fucale and Windsor should be the Orlando guys and now one of not both are screwed.

Windsor is also on the Bears camp roster at present, but not Fucale despite them theoretically being feet away from each other right now. TB hasn't made any announcements over assignments yet though, so that would explain it.

The AHL can carry unlimited guys, but if the Bears have 3, they would probably put Fucale on the 14-day IR first, if only because Windsor sort of got the raw deal last year having to sit so much.

There's a lot of complex IR juggling that goes on in the ECHL, although Syracuse keeping more goalies would give the most flexibility when a mid-season trade finally happens.

Hey Bolts fans, do you have an update on Boris Katchouk and how he's been developing? Also any opinions on the possibility of playing him TOP9 as early as this year for you guys?

Always liked his size and skillset. Had a crazy playoffs against the Knights few years ago. Led OHL playoff scoring. Would go so much higher in a re-draft.
