Yeah but its the deadtime in summer so lets just roll with it.
Maybe someone will catch on the mains and we'll see an "Ivan Provorov Wants Crazy Money" thread that will last weeks with enough hottakes and cheap shots at the fanbase to keep me entertained until training camp starts

I don’t know about $10M but would it really be shocking if his camp is asking for somewhere in the $8-9M range on an 8 year deal?

Ekblad’s deal with inflation would be around $7.9M under the current cap number.

Pretty much this. 8 would be my absolute top end for Provorov, and I'd have to be really pressed in order to even offer it. My hope is around 7, but i suppose well see.

Provorov is four years from free agency, $6-6.5M is the max I'd go on an 8 year deal, $5.5-6M on a 6 year deal.

That implicitly assumes $8M a year if he was a free agent, and right now he's not as valuable as Trouba (in 2-3 years, who knows?) who got $8.25M or so for his UFA years (only 1 RFA year).

Provorov is very good, but he’s not elite. He may be one day, but not today. I’d prefer to lock him up long term, say 6 years, but 40 million, aav 6.67 million, is as high as I’d go.

Just imagine if Provy sits out, Sanheim has a monster start to the season as the #1D, and Provorov has to sign for much less than he was hoping for and ends up on the second pairing going forward.

Why can't AV prefer Sanheim to Provorov?
