For some reason I’m stuck on the Skinner thing this morning, but...
Good players necessarily make good plays. That’s what makes them good players. They don’t need other players to do it for them. They find a way. They make things happen. This is team sports 101.
Yes, put a good player with another good player, you can expect more good plays and therefore more production, and hopefully a winning team. But what we’ve seen from Skinner is this year is deeper than just needing more good players around him or more opportunities. He hasn’t elevated other players and he hasn’t elevated himself. He hasn’t managed to create or seize chances. He’s flat out been a liability. He’s been a bad hockey player this year. And I’m pretty over the excuse making.
Sorry for the rant, but of all the things that have pissed me off about this team, Skinner is right at the top. He’s the 2nd highest paid player is Sabres history, we have him until 2027(!), and half of the city wants to tell me it’s everyone else’s fault that he’s not the same player he was last year. It makes me want to punch something.
