IMO, Montour had one of his best games against Winnipeg in a while. I think it's directly related to him getting back to his correct side and being paired with Dahlin, who he's shown chemistry with in the past.
Montour been taking a lot of flak. He's been bouncing around pairings and playing on the opposite side. but without question one of Montour Risto Miller have to go either for picks or a middle six player in the summer.

Dahlin-Montour
Pilut-Risto
Borgen-Joki

Oh, I absolutely agree that one of our natual RHDs have to go. Don't really care which one, as long as Joker stays.

Risto cannot be on the roster next season. I'll take future considerations if that's what it takes stg

So what is market value for Risto? Looking at flawed PP defensemen out there, Schultz or Johnson in Pittsburgh, maybe Yandle at the end? It isn’t that much.

I'm think he could get a Colin Miller return, but the time for him getting a legit return is over.

If he isn't going to return someone who can equivalently replace what he brings to the team (on the powerplay, his physical play, being the minute-eater among defenseman,) then what logic is there in trading him when he's signed for another two seasons?

A big part of people being short-sighted about Risto is because the team is bad (again,) when the team was playing well as a whole (back in October,) Risto was singled out for his improved play.

As it stands now, Reinhart hasn't contributed anything since Eichel has been playing injured. Neither has Oloffsson. Skinner scored a garbage goal during garbage time, and another goal the next game, but the team has been relying exclusively on the LOG line to get points. My point is that when the entire team is losing, lots of players are going to be playing poorly because hockey is a team sport.

Ristolainen hasn't been good on the PP for years now, his physical play is overrated as f*** and minute-eating doesn't matter when he does a terrible job at it, anyone can get destroyed for 25 minutes a game.

You're making a poor emotional argument not supported by facts. Risto's role on the powerplay has decreased since Dahlin entered the league, but he's still managing to put up points at a 40-point rate. Undervaluing is physical play his laughable, seeing how otherwise soft this team is.

Is that the last f*** you to the fans of Buffalo?

Botterills swan song, sign Simmonds to a cap crushing contract before being kicked from office.

Pegula informs Botts he will be relieved of his duties at the end of the season.

Botts: “Hey Simmonds how does 8 years at $12 million annually sound?”

On adding players through free agency:
You have to be careful of that on July 1st. I think Buffalo has always had a better opportunity to sign their players. That was a big reason we brought Wayne Simmonds in here right now. The physicality he brings on the forecheck. He's a player that likes to play in front of the net. In the locker room he's a personality.

Anyways...this better not happen...

I haven't seen any of the game tonight, mind you.

But I don't think Simmonds has been THAT bad. If he's willing to sign a 1 year, $1Mish deal......I think he's a fine 4th liner or 13th forward. He's always been touted as a fantastic veteran leader, and we could use more of that.

Now, if he wants a raise or anything near this year's salary? Buh-bye.
