The real loser here is Nas, whose bid for the full-time gig got cut short. I wasn't really convinced that he'd be a serious consideration for the job regardless, but this certainly doesn't help.

I'm actually quite pleased that Nas won't have a chance to even have the owners even remotely-think-twice about replacing him this offseason.

This team needs to move on from John Hynes Crappy Leftovers which Nas is (sorry but that's the truth).

And I believe the Owners will be of the same viewpoint.

Just give me Gallant....that's all I'm asking. :crossfing

I have to admit, I was intrigued by the idea of playing games in an empty arena, just to see what it would actually look like. And before anybody makes the obvious low attendance joke, I mean a completely empty arena.

The monster snowstorm game against the Leafs in 2010 and the second-half resumption of the Lights-out at the Rock game in 2009 were both pretty close :P

There was a blizzard game against the Flyers circa 2008 or 2009 that was the lowest attended game I've ever been to. I only made it because I lived 20 yards from the subway. There was so few people there that they made an announcement and let everyone in attendance come down to the lower bowl. Couldnt have been more than a few thousand, like a high school game. The funniest thing was the outraged reaction of some of the legitimate Club STH that the rif-raf were invading their high-rent sanctuary. It reminded me of the pool sequence in Caddyshack.

They let everyone down for that St. Louis Blues game in 2014 when we blew them out 7-1. The crowd was super low for that one too. It ended up being the last time we beat them too until we finally won against them last week.

God I miss this. That’s why I’m hanging out posting about nothing. The games and this board was one sure refuge away from the anxiety laden world of clicking aimlessly around the net hoping to find something positive and encountering nothing but anxiety, hateful politics, and discouraging news.

It definitely sucks, but I agree that our players could probably use the hiatus. Our little turnaround was nice to see, but I'm sure everyone involved would be happy to officially put this season in the rearview.

I wonder if Cory has any free weights or lifting machines at home? That should be Jack's quarantine.

I feel bad for Mermis who was finally getting his shot. I wonder if he'll get a 7th dman one way NHL deal if the season is over.

Haha good on you guys for the impromptu GDT last night, that was great.

If everyone is super bored maybe we can do regular GDT's. It would be awesome if someone could upload videos of NHL 20 simmed games for the remainder of the season haha.

Ownership has nothing to say about who’ll be our new head coach. However, they will decide who our new GM will be and that’s who will pick our new HC.

I'm not a STH but I was at both of those games because I was a broke college student and could line up for those $10 tickets, and the lights out game I got my brother tickets for for Christmas.

I was there too. We ended up on the Smokers Balcony (RIP) and were having a snowball throwing contest at the then-abandoned building next door with some Flyers fans.

No offense, but it's my understanding that that incident is what caused them to close the balcony.

They DO have a say since they're the one's who, like you said, hire the GM.

And I'm sure they'll let the new GM know of their "Preference"(translation : "You better hire this guy or you're fired") for Head Coach.

I went to a game vs Buffalo when Uwe Krupp was playing for them. It was the least attended game in the NHL that season, less than 2000 in attendance. Was like 10 inches of snow. Anyway we sat 1st row, and during a faceoff Krupp was right in front of us. I yelled at him and said he was a goon, and then he looked directly at me. Good times...

I don’t think they’ll be dictating any specific coach unless they want a big name, which I kinda doubt since they’ve never made a move on a big name coach yet (and what big name is really coming here at this time anyway?). More like they want people they can control which can be any number of young, cheap GM/coach combos.

So in other words, we end up with John Hynes Part 2.0 then?

EDIT (03-15-20) : Since you didn't respond to this, I assume you didn't want to get into that discussion 'cause it's a very real possibility. We get that same crap with the NY Football Jets where they never hire a EXPERIENCED Head Coach but instead give some inexperienced one a chance.

I hope the Owners realize that for the team go to the next level, it needs an established NHL Coach and I would love for it to be Gallant.

I was at that game. It was Kovy's first home game and I wasn't going to miss it. I had tickets in the upper sections with my mom. She of course didn't want to go. My sister and her then bf were supposed to sit in the bottom bowl one section over from the free food sections. Sister and I were at New Brunswick station when her bf said his car was stuck and he couldn't make it. So anyway now I'm finally able to use his ticket and sit at the bottom. I hadn't eaten anything that day and was like "whatever, I can go a day without food". Then they let us into free food section and I devoured pretty much everything. It was glorious.
