Pivetta's K/BB ratio is over 4/1. That is elite. But he makes too many mistakes that ends up in the seats. I like VV, but Im not sold on Eflin.

The schedule is about to get a bit tougher now, 4 vs boston and 3 vs D backs out of their next 14 games. Then they end the month with 6 vs the Nats and then the Cubs.

Will be interesting to see if they make any more moves or not.

He's such an outlier there. All but two other pitchers listed have an ERA under 3, and Pivetta is pushing 5 lol

Take a look at Nola's 2016. By DIP, he was one of the best pitchers in the league in his 100+ innings pitched. Following seasons with a similar approach bore out the expected results in ERA.

Not saying that Pivetta is as good as Nola. However, there are a few indicators that he should be having more success in game: low BB%, high K%, low lgHR count. If he stopped experimenting with his CV, then he might not get as burned with hits. He seemed to try to nibble in his most recent outing on 2 strike counts and maybe he doesn't have the command or control to do that. The CV looked good on occasion with at least 1 swinging K but there was a lot of damage done when the pitch didn't break. With his good slider/fb combo, Pivetta shouldn't be trying to nibble in the zone or surprise hitters with an unfinished pitch.

Dude I’ve never seen a hitter dig himself into pitchers counts quite like Kingery. He’s been 0-2 all three times to the dish today. It’s incredible.

I zone out or switch tabs when he's up. For kicks I checked his July numbers, he's got a 2.2 BB% and a 59 wRC+. Overall, he's been worse than Rollins in his last two seasons. Yikes!

If this team is going anywhere someone needs to come up with a clutch hit once in a while.

Bases loaded 1 out and 2 strike outs. Pathetic.
