If we got Dougie Hamilton tonight i couldn’t imagine Severson would still be here.

Severson and the 17 would probably be going to Calgary, no?

I don't expect much from this draft, we don't have good selection numbers.
IMO this is a Free Agent or trade to improve. We need help with the defense and offense.
Go for it, Shero

We had heard speculation of Vancouver offering #7 for Hanifin previously. Can't imagine Severson would net that in return, but maybe Ray can do a Jedi mind trick on Benning.

I mean it's Benning so who knows. If you're another GM you want Chiarelli, Dorion, Benning and Bergevin on speed dial.

I’m not even totally against trading Severson. I just need to see a plan. Okay you trade Severson for what? How do you replace him on the right side? What about the left side of the defense? I’m sure Ray has a solution if this is his plan.

someone explain why we want chris tanev, a RHD?

He's a reliable defensive defenceman. I don't see why we can't work with a surplus on one side. Detroit had 5 or 6 LHD for a period of time. Four RHD and two LHD aren't going to be a killer if you're upgrading the team.

Somebody posted the 1995 Draft on YouTube and I watched through most of it recently. It was fun to relive Petr Sykora dropping down. While it wasn't nearly as fun as watching Pierre melt down with Parise dropping, the 1995 commentators expressed mild shock with each pick as Sykora was being bypassed.

While I'm not expecting a big move today, we all know Ray is an opportunist and there are a lot of desperate GMs out there. Hopefully he can figure something out.

I think it's more likely we trade down to 20-24 and grab some extra picks in the 50-70 range than anything else.

I agree, I think that's the likely move if anything occurs today. Really intrigued on this draft because there's so many names out there in our pick range that I feel could be a good fit for us. Depending on how the board falls, I'm really interested in seeing what we do.

Canucks-Severson rumors are funny because he's their semi-local "why didn't we draft this guy" that all their fans were calling for. They took Alexandre Mallet instead, who couldn't even stick in the AHL.
