Difficult loss for Oakland.

They need to finish 1 game ahead of Yanks as NYY have tie-breaker. So they must make up 2 1/2 games in a week here.

COL needs 3 outs to keep pace.

The Rockies best possible record is 92-70, and don’t play any divisional or playoff teams the rest of the way.

Scenario 1- The brewers take at least 1 game in the Cardinals series. Cardinals best record is 92-70, good for game 163 tiebreaker vs. Colorado if Colorado wins all their games.

Scenario 2- The Brewers sweep the cardinals. Cardinals best record = 90-72. Rockies finish 92-70, cardinals miss playoffs.

Scenario 3: Cardinals sweep Brewers. Brewers best record = 92-70, and must play tiebreaking game 163 vs Rockies.
If the Rockies win their next 7 baseball games, they are guaranteed a tiebreaker game that if they win, puts them in the 1 game wildcard playoff. The Colorado Rockies control their own destiny.

Rockies are more alive than i thought they were. Taken from reddit.

Yeah, it could still happen for the Rockies. They certainly have the talent to get it done but we'll have to see if it actually happens.

Most places give the Rockies about a 25% chance of making it and I just don't get it. I'd say it is more 45%.

The Rockies roster right now is terrible outside 2 starting pitchers, 2~3 relievers, and 2~3 hitters. Their top 2 hitters are playing with bad shoulders now, I have no idea how they're still in playoff position.

It's basically Rocktober part 3. That 2007 team was awful outside of like 2 starting pitchers, a reliever and 2 or 3 hitters (Helton/Tulo/Holliday)

It can happen. Especially since the Rockies have 2 paths into (via a Dodger meltdown and stealing the NL West or that cluster**** i posted above)

The National League doesn't have a dominant team this year, but the NL of 2018 IMHO is not as weak as the NL of 2007

still hoping they can overtake NY for the #1 WC spot but i'm just happy they're in

thought they still had another season in the cellar before contending for the division again but i guess they figured they'd get a head start. i would have never expected this good of a year, especially with the starters dropping like flies

what a season

Rockies up big against the Phillies. The pressure mounts on LA and STL.

Cards respond by lighting up Josh Hader. 4-3 Cards. Ozuna with a 2 run shot.

Milwaukee just tied it up 4-4 though and now we have a rain delay in the bottom of the 7th inning.
