Watching Canes and Capitals on NBC and Brendan Burke is doing the PBP

From AHL to NHL national broadcasts in such a short time. Good for him

New York Islanders regular TV guy with Butch Goring doing color. This is at least his second season of NHL Playoffs, maybe his 3rd. IMO one of the best play by play guys in the game today.

4/13/19

Utica Comets at Hershey Bears.

This one will be a real challenge. Hershey has clinched a spot and will play Bridgeport. 2nd or 3rd place depends on these final games of the season.

Bridgeport has 93 points and sits in 2nd with a single game to be played tonight.

Hershey sits in 3rd with 90 points, but has 2 left to play and could catch 2nd if Bridgeport loses to W-B/Scranton tonight and Hershey beats Utica tonight and Hartford tomorrow.

With something important on the line for Hershey, Iexpect a strong effort from their best guys and Utica will be icing its skeleton crew once again.

Even though he's been the Islanders regional PBP guy for a few years, getting the national gig so soon is a huge deal.
For example, Shorthouse has been doing Canucks games for 20 years and only started getting national games last year or this year.
Agreed, well deserved for Burke. Calls a way better game than the likes of Emerick, or anyone else other than Cuthbert IMO.

He got the Islanders gig after leaving Utica and this is 3rd season there. He got NHL playoff games immediately so this is year 3 doing such.

This is par for the course and the PTOs as you should know have been moving in and out for months. Huge Number of players have laced 'em up for at least one game again this year. I'll catch you all up on the exact number before too long. Only one more game left and then I'll put together a few followups.

I guess I should force myself to watch at least part of today's game. I hate to miss the NHL playoffs, but like ypou say. It is the second last game.

Comets are on the ropes in this one, but hanging in there and have had a couple good chances. As is the norm, the Comets keeper has to come up big to keep them in it and Ty has been good so far. Lots of board work for the Comets in their offensive zone. Shots directed at the net in their defensive zone.

There's #1 against from a ridiculous angle and Ty deflected it into his own n off his own stick as he was not holding his post. Terrible ECHL level mistake. The shot came from the side boards just past the goal line. That shot just can't be allowed to get into the net!

Another missed try by the Comets so typical of their frustrations. Puck laying 6 feet from the net, goalie sitting spread eagle three feet from the post and the comet only needs to shovel it into the open side. whiffs as he is being knocked down from behind. The Comets are not strong on their sticks. Huts their passing , pass receiving, shooting, Moving the puck out of danger, and maintaining possession when trying to carry the puck past or around an attacker. It is so obvious as you watch the team go through a game, let alone an entire season. It's been an ever prevalent problem since game one.
It causes all their puck problems. Can't stick handle, passes are inaccurate, bouncing, and/or too high, trouble getting shots off, way too many weak and or off target shots. When you mix all of these issues into a 60 minute contest, the results are usually frustrating.

First has ended with Hershey leading 1-0 on that ****** goal.

SOG are 10-9 Hershey.
Both teams are 0/1 on the PP.

Wacey has been a fixture since 2014-15. In case your math is weak, that's 5 SEASONS! What's more he is signed for his 6th next season.
Freddie Hamilton went unsigned all season I think. He could be a handy tweener type to have in an organization imo. As long as Dougie isn't on your team. He pouts when his brother doesn't play/gets sent down.

First full game in a while that I watched. Nice to see Sifters gets his goal and the Comets play well but WBS was horrible and the game turned into a goon fest.

No doubt Boucher has some parts of his game which are NHL caliber but never seems able to come thru when given the chance at that level. Might have scored more than Goldobin if given equal time. Some great passing and shooting in this game

McEwen game has sagged. Couple of assists but also some sketchy defense and overall positioning . At -19 and never seems able to bring those high minus totals down.

Gaunce appears to have given up the ghost. Little enthusiasm in his play. Maybe playing out the string.

Lind scored but is simply too weak. Gets pushed off puck a or out of play very easily. Don't know how he overcomes this.

Gado scored and was more involved in the play but he is a poor skater. And don't know how he overcomes this.

Jasek also scored and is playing generally better. He isn't much of prospect but probably the best of these 3.

Mazanec played well and you wonder what happens to him next year. If Bachman is done then may end up in Utica. Canucks do need to protect themselves for the Expansion Draft.

And who is Ty Reichenbach???

LIND!!!!! AGAIN. 2 nights in a row.

See Benning, The kids will play out their asses to impress you!

1-1

Can never enjoy success for more than a few seconds. Comets to the PK as a result of the Bears usual hockey push after a goal scored against.
