2017 Playoff Avatar Thread

We've done that so many times already though. Remember "Because it's the Caps?" Or "40 year Cup virgins?" They were funny and self deprecating and did absolutely nothing to improve the team's reputation on the NHL forum.

But again, since when did we care what the rest of the forum thinks? What's next, complicated playoff GDTs?

I'm not categorically against self deprecating again, but a full on choking theme seems too negative to me.

How about the theme be just creativity and diversity? Change it after a loss. Do whatever you want.

Everyone having the same adtar gif timing and frames makes the board hard to read. Then you have to look at user names to see who posted what, which takes away from what the tar is supposed to do. Help ID you.

First slide photo shop someone lifting the cursed Stanley can,then show the regular season champion banners (throw in the mystics attendance banner for lolz) then playoffs show a guy golfing

How has there been no Airplane! Caps playoff theme yet? "Drinking problem", hysteria, glue sniffing, the autopilot, etc. etc.

Being a Caps fan come playoff time is about that wave of emotion and zaniness. I'm not as invested as I used to be but as far as pop culture goes it's right up there in useful material that fits in a lot of ways. We should mix a couple themes together no matter what probably but there are a lot of good bits to draw from.

serious or funny, either could work for me.
what doesnt click for me is a concern for what any
other fanbase will 'think' about our choice. i simply
dont care what they think, and frankly, cant fathom
why i should. they exist as fodder for our cannons...

the 'window closing' certainly speaks to this season for
the Caps. We know changes are coming..

so... i'll just throw out there what i 'see'...and thats a
double-hung window..in the raised/open position...closing
on the neck of a penguin*-guillotine style..and we know
what happens next(bucket is optional!) what? too gross?
c'mon..its an animated gif for crying out loud !

round two of the playoffs..swap out the penguin with our next opponent,
and let the fun continue...afterall, ive seen far 'worse' on the
Simpsons. we all have.

*use of penguin for first round opponent is, at this point in
time purely optional..although sportsclubstats seems to say
that unless the Caps finish with at least 118 points...then they
will most likely face the Pens,but of course this is still all in flux.

Something about heroically destroying self-destruction or overcoming mental blocks - gives us a lot of leeway E.g., the tranny hurling furniture at her foes.

Alternatively, something around the end of history- year zero; Mad Max; The Road; Apocalypse Done. We can actually do something useful if the fan base can be made to cast away its reflexive sense that the slightest bit of adversity means another apocalyptic failure - since that always brings more tension and fear of failure into the building. We've had the apocalypse (many times) - history is over. We are free to make the best of the hellscape that is Caps fandom.

But I'm also cool with Russians and Airplane

The Autopilot is Trotz. The resemblance is....there.

As my current avatar shows, I still prefer the choking theme. Its the elephant in the room, legacy of OV and Nicky, it should be exploited to its fullest.

I love these and the banner idea because other fans are always giving us **** for raising worthless banners
