Hello all, I'd love if you could all give the bolded a read before voting.

I will make a thread everyday until we have determined the top 30 prospects according to Leaf fans on HFBoards for my 7th straight year. These polls are technically called "prospect rankings" but I like to treat them as our "not quite established NHL player rankings". For the most part I like to keep the list in like with Calder eligible but I like to let some guys slide like for example Kapenen as he is right there in eligibility, and still not an established Toronto Maple Leaf. I am open to adding some players to the list (eg: Leivo, Sosh) or removing players (eg. Holl, Rosen) if enough of you ***** and moan enough, but it's not really that big of a deal if a guy slips on for being a 24 year old Calder eligible player or something. Also please let me know if I have any prospect omissions as there are not a ton of comprehensive prospect lists floating around right meow. I look forward to doing this again this year, and thanks for participating!

Thank you Schenn!

I am of the opinion Rosen/Holl can stay... Zaitsev was in it last year, was he not? And he was older!

Absolutely! That's why I am including them. They are young enough in my eyes, and unestablished in the NHL. So they are in.

I'd stick to strictly Calder eligible players but I can understand the logic.

I voted for Liljegren just because right now his value looks very promising, but Kapanen is just behind by a hair. It was tough to vote here.

It was very hard to decide between Kaps and Lilj but I have voted for Lilj (hard to find elite level "D", let's hope so)

Please add Aaltonen to 'next on the list' :)

Sparks could be eligible too.

Greenway, Aaltonen or Joshua should be added to the docket list next IMO.

Is Herzog still Leaf property?

Kap for sure is fine despite not being Calder eligible he's still clearly a prospect. Guys like Leivo and Sosh I'd go with no. Leivo couldn't clear waivers last year so the only time he was down was for a "rehab assignment", technically he's a full time Leafs even if he only played a handful of games. Sosh was pretty much a Leafs for 90% of this season so he shouldn't be there either. Older guys like Rosen and Holl are fine with me. Rychel too. Though he played a bunch of games with Columbus over a full season and thus isn';t calder eligible he was in the AHL the entire year and hasn't required waivers yet(will next year). I will say whatever the consensus on things like this just pick something and go with it from the start. Can't really add Leivo during poll 15, he'd probably win and potentially should be higher.

As for this poll I'm voting Liljegren, should be close with him and Kap and I expect Kap to win TBH(edit: doesn't look like the vote is gonna go that way, figured Kap is more ready, would get more votes, guess not), but it's a fairly easy 1/2 either way it goes.

Thanks for doing this again :)

Thanks for doing this again Schenn.

Voted Liljegren. I think he is going to live up to the hype and make a lot of teams regret passing on him. He has some elite skills.

Kappy is #2 for me.

Now that you say it, I don't think Herzog is Leafs property anymore. Can anyone else confirm?

And do you guys think Aaltonen should be added to the polls? Wasn't sure if I should consider him.

Aaltonen is younger than Holl and younger than Zaitsev last year.

I think he's got a good shot of making our NHL roster this season, in spite of the depth we have.

Seems like a lot of shiny new toy syndrome. I like Timmy but I do not see how he is ahead of Kapanen. He is fighting Dermott for number 2 IMO.

Agree, I went with Kapanen. Then you could even argue Dermott is ahead of Liljegren as he has shown he can play at the pro level effectively.

People just evaluate prospects differently.

Is Kapanen a better player than Liljegren right now? Probably.

Will Kapanen have a better NHL career than Liljegren? Maybe, but I'm betting on Liljegren.

For instance, I'd rate Rasanen over Johnsson. Johnsson is the better player now, but thats because he's a few years older.

Voted Liljegren. When it comes to going past the top 5 or so, I take floor into account (rating a guy like Gauthier higher than most). But when it comes to top prospects, here I am looking at who will have a bigger impact if they hit their ceiling. Liljegren would be by quite a margin I'd think in this case.

Ps Schenn, Selena is missing from your avatar again.

As for this poll, I think it is a lot closer than will end up showing, but I'm voting Liljegren.

Looks like liljegren will take the top spot, but am I the only leaf fan who thinks Dermott is a better prospect than kapanen? I see him as a top 4 guy in a couple of years, where as I could see kapanen rounding into a top6/9 winger. One of those is more valuable than the other imo.
