The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, announced Friday the team has re-signed forward Travis Morin to an AHL contract for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

The Texas captain returns for his ninth season with the team and is the only player to skate each season for the Stars since their inception in 2009.

Morin, 33, led the Stars in scoring last year with 55 points (21 goals, 34 assists) in 72 games. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound veteran is the franchise career leader in games played (543), goals (157), assists (310), points (467), power-play goals (42) and power-play assists (140).

Funny - I thought it was the other way around with Rowe. Isn't he leaving Bridgewater (Where he played last season) for Europe?

There was a mistake in the tweet. It's the other way around. Rowe is leaving Bridgeport for Sweden.

Those 6 players are forwards Francois Beauchemin, Matt Buckles, Ryan Horvat, Anthony Greco defenceman Matt MacKenzie and goaltender Evan Cowley.

Beauchemin, 21, completed his final junior season in the QMJHL with Val d'Or and Charlottetown. The 6-foot-1 inch, 195-pounder scored a combined 35 goals and 97 points in the 2016-17 season.

Buckles, 22, completed his NCAA collegiate career at Cornell before joining the Thunderbirds for nine games at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season. The 6-foot-3 inch winger, a fourth round pick of Florida in 2013, scored three goals and added seven assists in nine games with the Thunderbirds.

Horvat, 24, is entering his fourth professional season at the AHL level. In 47 games with Springfield last season, Horvat scored five goals and added 12 assists while tallying 73 penalty minutes.

Greco, 23, completed his first full professional season with the Thunderbirds in 2016-17. He finished the year with 16 goals and 15 assists in 74 games.

MacKenzie, 25, is entering his seventh professional season. In 38 games with the Thunderbirds, he scored four goals and added eight assists in 38 games.

Cowley, 21, is a former fourth round selection by the Panthers in the 2013 NHL Draft. In four seasons at the University of Denver, Cowley won 23 games. He posted goals-against averages of 2.16 and 2.07 respectively in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. He captured a national championship with the Pioneers in 2016-17.

Ryan Craig (Cleveland) retires as a player to join Vegas' coaching staff.

Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee announced today, June 9, that the team has hired Ryan Craig as an assistant coach. Craig joins Mike Kelly as the second assistant coach named to Golden Knights Head Coach Gerard Gallant's coaching staff. Craig and Gallant will be available to media by phone on a request basis.

Craig last played in the Columbus Blue Jackets organization, captaining the Cleveland Monsters (formerly Lake Erie Monsters) of the AHL for the last two seasons. He was the team captain for the 2015-16 Lake Erie Monsters squad that captured the 2016 Calder Cup championship. This past season with the Monsters, he had 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points in 71 regular season.
