Thanks for posting this, being from Binghamton, was curious how AHL multi-year deals worked when a team moves from one city to another.

Will McCarron be eligible for this year's Calder Cup playoffs?

What are the AHL playoffs eligibility rules for NCAA players and CHL players who are signed after the NHL trade deadline?

Any player coming from juniors/college and is on an ATO contract is eligible for the Calder Cup playoffs no matter when they come into the league.

No he'll still be eligible for the playoffs too. His SPC with NJ doesn't kick in until next year, but is in Albany for the rest of this season on an ATO.

As much as I wish that were so.

The New Jersey Devils today signed defenseman Michael Kapla to a two-year, entry-level contract. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero. The contract will begin with the 2016-17 season and he will report to New Jersey.

https://www.nhl.com/devils/news/devils-sign-michael-kapla-to-entry-level-deal/c-288164008

http://goriverhawks.com/news/2017/3...apla-signs-on-with-the-new-jersey-devils.aspx

Kapla was not present for morning skate with the Devils on Tuesday, so he will not play on Tuesday night against the Winnipeg Jets. He will practice with the Devils once he joins the team and remain in the NHL for the rest of the season. He will not be eligible for the the AHL playoffs with Albany.

http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2017/03/whats_the_plan_for_new_devils_defenseman_michael_k.html

The Devils signed Massachusetts-Lowell senior captain Michael Kapla to a two-year, entry-level deal. The defenseman, 22, will remain with the Devils for the rest of the season, though he was not in Tuesday’s lineup. He is not eligible for the AHL playoffs.

Just so it's clear, this isn't an "AHL playoff eligibility" issue per se. The issue is that he cannot be assigned to the AHL for the remainder of this season. After the trade deadline, only players who were on loan at the time of the deadline (with a few exceptions for players injured at that time) can be sent down. So a player who signs a new NHL SPC which starts during the same season, but after the trade deadline, cannot be sent down.

Albany\Binghamton Devils signed F Austin Cangelosi to a 2-year AHL contract, starting with the 2016-17 season.

The Albany Devils have agreed to terms with forward Austin Cangelosi to a two-year AHL contract beginning with the 2016-17 season

San Diego Gulls signed F Zach Saar to a 1-year AHL contract, starting with the 2017-18 season.

Senior Zach Saar (Richland, Mich.) becomes the second Nittany Lion to ink a professional deal following the conclusion of the 2016-17 season as he signed a one-year contract with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League for the 2017-18 season.

Laval signed Niki Petti

Also this article alludes to F Evan Polei having signed an AHL deal with the Bakersfield Condors, but it's hard to decipher whether or not it's just an ATO, or ATO + SPC for 2017-18.

Polei developed into a pro prospect during his time in Red Deer and recently signed an American League deal with the Edmonton Oilers.

Polei will leave for Bakersfield, Calif., early next week to join the Oilers’ AHL farm team, the Condors. While he’s toiling with the AHL squad next season he’ll keep tabs on the Rebels from afar.
