i mean, can't we aim a little higher than Sheehan/Grigersons/Jussi/Nonsense as our centers? We do have some money to spend.

I gonna pop some tags, only got twenty dollars in my pocket,,

Like who though? That's the problem. It's easy to say "we need to do better than that", it's a lot harder to point out who those guys would be. The center trade market isn't good right now and the FA market is even worse.

On why Jokinen got bought out:

agreed. would rather have someone younger. even if it comes at a slightly higher cost i.e. Bozak. Id give bozak the Bonino 4x4 contract right now.

Bozak isn't a UFA right now and probably wouldn't sign to that contract, seeing how he makes $4.2 million right now.

And Bozak would decline that contract, as he is better than Bonino and is gonna get 5mil+ avg if he replicates what he did this year.

Pretty sure the back to back champs plan on defending their title. That ain't happening with buyouts from the Avs and Panthers in key positions as centers on our roster. The Pens have cap space and can make more if they had to.

That doesn't answer my question at all...

You literally just repeated what you originally said instead of responding to my "okay, but who?" question

On Duchene:

Please go to Nashville or just rot in Colorado.

Strikes me as Sakic trying to use Dreger to put pressure on a third team.

I love Jussi, but it's time for him to hang em up.

Wasn't the Columbus rumor that Colorado wanted Jenner and Jones back? If that's the case, I hope Duchene goes to the Jackets.

Jokinen had a 0.41 PPG vs Bonino's 0.46 PPG, lol people freak out at suggesting to give JJ a 1-2 million $ contract but will give Bones a 4x4.

Jackets probably have the assets to get it done if they are serious. We know that Werenski is a non-starter for them but Ryan Murray as the basis maybe?

I love Jussi, but it's time for him to hang em up.

Wasn't the Columbus rumor that Colorado wanted Jenner and Jones back? If that's the case, I hope Duchene goes to the Jackets.

?

He's 34 and had a 60 point season last year, and even with his bad season this year, he still had over a 30 point pace.

It's kind of funny that in order to get a top-pairing defenseman, the Blue Jackets had to trade their #1 center. Now to get a #1 center, they will likely have to trade a top-pairing defenseman.

Jokinen had a 0.41 PPG vs Bonino's 0.46 PPG, lol people freak out at suggesting to give JJ a 1-2 million $ contract but will give Bones a 4x4.

Did you watch any Florida last year, or are you just statwatching? I already know the answer, btw.

Pens should hit up Ryan Murphy (D) - GMJR drafted him 12th overall in 2011

Pens should also hit up Andrei Loktionov (C) - he wants to come back to the NHL and GMJR traded for him in 2014

We don't really know what the center trade market is though, do we? There are always guys rumored to be on the market and then there are always guys who get traded out of nowhere. Was Bonino "on the market" at the time we traded for him? Was Sutter? I honestly don't remember.

Yes on Murphy, because I think we could slip him through waivers and he'd be a potential RD solution down the line if he can work with Gonchar and Martin. No on Loktionov, because he has never been particularly good in the NHL and his KHL numbers aren't any better than Plotnikov's. He also didn't really play center in the NHL.

Yes on Sutter, I don't think Bonino was available but Vancouver wanted Sutter, so Bonino was the obvious piece to trade for him.

What pieces would Cbus give up? I just don't see it happening

Probably Murray, Milano and a 1st if I had to guess.

1st+Murray+ Milano+something else might make sense. Sakic will want someone of higher caliber than Murray though. No idea what he thinks hes gonna get.

I watch Florida as my second team. Do not want. Two years ago, he was great. Last year wasn't pretty, imo. I don't care what his stats say.

34 isn't necessarily all that young for a guy who doesn't seem to take conditioning particularly seriously.
