Overall looks kinda bad how we did overall against a lot of 3rd world countries that did better in the medal standings like serious how did cuba and kenya beat us thats no good :shakehead

Oh **** off.

They didn't do better than us. They had 1 and 2 more gold, but about half as many total medals. We could increase our gold total and greatly decrease our total medal count if we wanted too, by just putting all our funds and effort into one sport.

Kenya dominantes long distance running, always have. Cuba dominates boxing.

We compete in just about every sport in the entire games, don't dominate one but contend in all of them. That is much harder. Not to mention this is by far our worst edition of the Olympics, while we are consistently a top 5 country in the winter olympics.

So if you want to look at the games we just had, tying our best ever fully attended games, and complain that we "look bad", then you can just **** right off.

Not to mention, Cuba isn't a third world country. No third world country beat us in total medals.

This was a great Olympics for Canada. 10th in the overall medal table is terrific for a country of our size.

For reference, since 1992 :

1992 - 15th in total medals
1996 - 11th
2000 - 17th
2004 - 19th
2008 - 14th
2012 - 14th
2016 - 10th

22 medals...not bad, not bad at all.

Our swimmers did better, and our open water athletes did far worse. Hmm..

My poorly thought out theory involves rowing through raw sewage and floating poop.

I'll continue analyzing this theory...

This deserves a repost.

Yet, if we look how far up and down Australia has gone since they hosted, it proves money into the program equals success.

We rock in the winter sports, as we spend more money to help our athletes.

We did absolutely fantastic, considering what we put in to our summer olympic programs, and I am incredibly proud of what they accomplished.

Yet, I feel it's time we support our summer athletes more. Far more.

They put they're heart and soul into everything they do, and they deserve our love, support, and most importantly, our financial support.
