I think lester will pitch well tonight. I like Kershaw, but these playoff performances are tiring. He was great in game 4 on 3 days rest last year though.

Game 2 might be delayed due to rain, this thread is dead compared to the others.

Sounds like it's gonna be ppd. Manfred is supposed to speak in a little bit in the nats press conference room per nats beat writers

Funny how Allan Selig basically had game 5 or the 2008 World Series played in a monsoon, yet now they are postponing this game. It is good to learn from others.

This was a stupid decision. The rain will be over by 6pm at worst. no reason they could not have waited. This is a huge disadvantage to the Nats now having to play a game on the road dead tired and jet lagged.

That's brutal. That's a legit cross country trip they have to make.

Also hope Sportsnet is paying attention here because now that means there's no baseball on today because they decided to show the same god damn NHL preseason game on the same 2 channels instead of picking up game 2 of the Cubs/Giants.

What are you talking about? It's gonna be raining well into the night.

No way, the National Weather Service forecast for DCA airport has rain shutting off around 6-630. The Nats never make great decisions on weather, they frequently rain out games when they should not. I'm not sure who their weather provider is but they are not very good. If we were talking 20-30 miles east of the stadium it will rain until late, but the back edge is pressing southeast from Dulles already and should clear the stadium area in 2 hours.

They never move the series forward because it risks running too close into the NLCS. Also, it can impact pitching matchups by giving one team an advantage. Obviously late in series that is not avoidable, but early on pushing this would allow Kershaw or Scherzer to come back on full rest in a game 4 if needed which creates advantages.

So play game two tomorrow at noon, hop a plane, fly cross country and play game 3 monday, again at noon.

Thankfully both teams have to make the trip, but that seems like BS. Why not just push the game up to like, 7 et? Not like it matters since the game it would go alongside is being played in Canada.

You do realize both teams are going to be jet lagged? They can bothleave DC at the same time.

Home teams always have an advantage in that situation though. They're staying in their own homes vs a hotel and are playing with the home crowd behind them. Reading twitter the last 1-2 hours it sounds like this was not a Nats decision and was MLB's who had access to the forecast saying rain would end around 6...entirely possible they did not want overlapping games.

And Dodgers are spending an extra day in DC, you know away from their families. It's a nuisance, nothing else. No disadvantage to either team.
