He is a good player and I would not mind the Flyers taking him... if they picked ~15-20ish.

As it stands in my mind:

#1: Matthews.
By #4: Laine, Puljujarvi.
By ~#7: Tkachuk, Chychrun.
By ~#10: Nylander, Juolevi.
By ~#13: Sergachyov, Gauthier, Dubois.
By ~#15: McLeod, Keller, Bellows.
By ~#20: Rubtsov, Jones, Fabbro, Jost.
By ~#25: Benson, McAvoy, Bean.

That is 20 guys I am pretty sure mainly go in the top 25. Then:

Other obvious possible for 1st: Kunin, Brown, Dube, Krys, Raddysh, Girard, Stanley, Steel, Howden, Asplund, Grundstrom, Thompson, Dahlen, Bastian, Hajek, DeBrincat, Bitten, Clague, Tufte, Abramov.

So I don't think that the Flyers would likely have to move up for Jost.

I like those rankings, thanks for the insight apple. Some are higher on Jost and some are lower. The rankings will continue to fluctuate throughout the season anyhow. I guess it's good we have some great ideas on players early. Dubois and Gauthier I'd be happy with as well. We're at that pivotal point in our season where we push for playoffs or miss. As much as I love winning, if we aren't gonna make playoffs let's please miss by a mile...

I swear if the Oilers end up with Matthews, Laine, or Pulj I'll explode.

They will just ruin them anyway and end up trading other young talented forwards to accommodate them.

And they badly need D (and it is very, very hard to trade wingers for legit top 4 dmen!)... Klefbom & Nurse are good... but I don't think either have #1 upside, most likely good 2nd pairing guys. Reinhart is not great IMO. I like Bear but I think he has middle pair upside.

The best thing for them may possibly be to get 4-6thth to last and have the option of Chcyhrun, Juolevi or Sergachev.

If we don't get Matthews I want him to end up in the West anyway!

If Edmonton gets anyone of the top 3 or even tkachuck at 4, they deserve to get moved to Seattle.

You can't really be too upset. The guys they've picked don't appear to be doing all that much, hence the bottom-feeding. If anything be happy they get it so they pick a player that isn't as good as the others available!

Outside of Yakupov none of their top picks have really been bad individually. The problem has been management & how they constructed the team over the years. Outside of the first round their drafting record has been poor & it's not because a lack of picks either. They started their initial rebuild around wingers which hurt them. They just lack identity too. The Western Conference specifically the Pacific Division is built around teams who play a heavy game along with strong two-way play throughout their lineup. RNH, Eberle, Yakupov, & quite possibly Hall are just bad fits out there.

I don't see things changing anytime soon as Chiarelli isn't a very good GM so yeah it gets frustrating how one team is squandering talent & doing nothing with it. Fortunately the lottery changes these last couple of years are set in place to try & minimize that.

Kyle Connor has 18 goals and 18 assists in 21 games for Michigan so far.

That's two years in a row a team got a steal at #17.

If we sat another 5 spots back in the draft I really wanted Connor...

Livio Stadler, LHD and Swiss U-18 captain is interesting for me.

I have hardly seen him ranked higher than ~150 but he skates well, has a nice shot and has some nice hands to boot, he is a really good transition guy. He is already playing in the NLA at 17 and his dad was a pro Dman in Switzerland.

He looked very good at the Hlinka from what I saw. And he has been solid in the few NLA games I have seen of him.

Could be interesting later on in the draft.

It's starting to look like Kieffer Bellows is shaping up to be this year's undervalued US prospect. Ranked 12th overal North American skater by central scouting with at least 3 international skaters ahead of him in Matthews, Puljujarvi and Laine. And he only has the under18s left to impress while CHL guys have the top prospect game and memorial cup playoffs. He could be the next 17th overall steal.

He's not good enough for Boston though. Lol.

Benson is likely going to slip to the second round this year, which is really unfortunate. Had a cyst removed in the offseason, and missed the first month of hockey. it had to heal from the inside out so he wasn't able to workout in the offseason. He came back, and pushed himself really hard to catch up. The guy now has inflammation in the joints of his hips (Right in where the ball of femur meets the pelvis). He got sent home from their post Christmas road trip. Even though he was named captain of the prospects game, however he is likely unable to play.

Hopefully we can make a move if he slips into the 2nd round. Having a rough year, but he'd be a steal if he falls to the 2nd round.

I get the feeling Benson is one of those kids that "peaked" early, but he would be worth a looksy in the 2nd round.
