Bob Stauffer will be stoked. He's been pumping his tires since he was in what... bantam?

Could Edmonton perhaps revolutionize the game and go with a 4F-1D-1G

He was compared to Taylor Hall in bantam. Kid was very dominant after his slow start (late start due to injury) until he got injured.

2-way, mean, physical, amazing shot, skilled, strong leader. Love it.

Scouting report sounds great. Hoping for the best and not for a Pitlick like career.

A little surprised they didn't take one of the d but I think a forward was the way to go.

Definitely a high potential guy. Solid size for a 18 year old too at 205lbs.

    Strengths (summed up from FC)
    - Good two way
    - Good shot
    - Good Heart/work ethic

    Cons
    -Injury prone?
    -Hockey IQ?

Very content. I personally would've swung for the fences with a small skill guy, but Benson is a guarantee to at least play. Potential for top six definetlly there.

Curtis Lazar comparison is very fair IMO.

Think he will bust, but we'll see.
There were more interesting propstects there for my taste.

Really good gamble at 32. Can't wait to see him play down the street in Langley this year :yo:

I like this pick. Benson has big potential but I think his floor as a two-way bottom six forward is pretty high as well. I liked DeBrincat but Benson is a solid pick at this spot.

I'd love to see us package a couple 3rd rounders and trade up for Dineen now.

Don't like it. Classic Oilers 2nd rounder. Guy who's been hurt. Picked the guy they know rather than BPA. Nothing against Benson, the local kid thing is a nice story but this is not an unbiased selection.

Umm wrong. Benson was projected to be a top 15 pick before injuries. Really high reward pick imo
