Intangibles. I'm worth at least a 3rd for my vet leadership and intangibles alone.

Intangibles.

Iiiiinnnnntaaaaaanggibbbbblesss

I can think of no higher or more appropriate compliment for you than this . . .

You are to HFBoards what Kunitz is to the Penguins.

HSL's snark is as crucial to this board as KIRK's popcorn eating emojis

One gets hungry reading this board.

Stop buying people out. It's stupid. Both Kunitz and MAF can be traded (or I'd bet good money on it).

Don't think so.
I have no doubt that JR is trying to move Kunitz right now but look at the UFA market and some NMC guys that teams are looking to move(Hartnell). Pretty likely that teams go other directions than Kunitz.

Seidenberg has more value than Kunitz and he got bought out.

I disagree, I think Kunitz could be moved easily in a dump. I don't think they are trying to move him, if they are they are trying to get too much in return. Hartnell has a lot of money left and term. Kunitz at 1 yr left would be most attractive to a contender looking for that sandpaper, leadership, proven winner intangible. Let's not kid ourselves there's plenty of dinosaurs in front offices in this league that salivate at that stuff.

People acting like Kunitz can't be moved are living in some weird reality that isn't the world we live in. People are trying to justify why JR hasn't traded Kunitz yet, but the justification they're ignoring is that JR just doesn't want to move him right now.

Kunitz put up the same ES stat line as TJ Oshie this year and had about as good of a season as Troy Brouwer had (who just signed a 4 year deal worth like $4.5 million AAV). It's downright comical to suggest that JR wouldn't be able to move Kunitz if he actually tried to.

WBS could still use a forward or two. My shortlist:

Colin Smith, Jason Akeson, Lucas Lessio, Ben Smith, Drew Shore, Danny Kristo, Derek Grant.

A question about how much cap space is available.

The first post shows just under 3 million. That is with 13 Forwards, 6 Defenseman and 2 Goalies. Including Scuderi's retention and Dupuis' LTIR.

If we assume one of the recently signed defenseman will fill the 7th D spot @ 575K, than the cap space becomes roughly 2.3 million.

I swear I've heard some of the local guys and maybe even JR himself (around the draft) say that the team only has about a million dollars to spend.

I'm wondering how they came up with only a million left when the math in the first post seems to be accurate. Is there something I/we are missing?

I think JR is just using that number as an estimate of what he wants to spend. You don't often hear GMs even give cap space numbers.

The figures above match the math out of general fanager which seems accurate to me.

Bob Mckenzie even quotes general fanager so I have to believe they are trustworthy

Danny Kristo not being an NHL'er is sort of surprising to me. I've completely forgotten about him. He had some serious wheels.

Thanks, that's a good assumption on the 1 million part. I know with the LTIR bit that the team needs to get as close to the ceiling in order to maximize the cap relief. I suppose with spending an extra million on a Cullen type, it would make reaching that number within the roster limit fairly simple.

It also could be the number they want to finish with for call-ups. Most would like somewhere around 1.0 give or take.

Meh on Pirri.

GMJR should be doing everything possible to get Mike Hoffman in a pens sweater. Ottawa is primed to **** up that situation because there cheap.

I wouldn't be surprised if JR doesn't really know. Botterill is the cap guy. I also think he's behind a lot of the moves.
