Schenn's agent will have a hard time getting more than early 4's...

the rate has kind of been set for ~Schenn calibre RFA guys over the last few years in the ~$3.5-4.4 range

Couturier, Henrique, C. Smith, Wilson, Silfverberg, Johansson, Eakin, Atkinson, Backlund, Kadri...

the contract number just depends on how long the term is really.

I have a feeling we can get Jones in the draft.
Imagine this. This is 4 quality lines with speed.

Voracek--Giroux--Simmonds
Jones--Couturier--Schenn
Raffl--Laughton--Koneckny
Leier--Bellemare--Read

Del Zotto--Gudas
Provorov--Gostisbehere (Because this will be our future top 2)
Streit--Macdoanld

That has mad potential.

I think there's a reasonable chance Read is traded at the deadline, if not this year, than next.

Think Jamie McGinn would fit into our team next year?
UFA we could possibly sign for ~3m that can play top 6/ LW

or is Raffl a better choice than him?

Hard to say without knowing their contract demands. Maybe we could afford both.

If they bought out Umberger that would free up $3m to sign a guy like McGinn, but I don't think he's worth more than that.

22 player roster, $70m cap hit

Voracek-Giroux-Simmonds
Read-Couturier-Schenn
Raffl(2.2)-Cousins(.7125)-Konency
Laughton-Bellemare-Umberger
VdV

MDZ-Gudas(2.7)
Ghost-Streit
Provorov-Schultz/MacDonald

Cousins is going to make the team next year, he's playing better than Laughton.
Leier has a good shot, especially if he hits the weights this summer, he just needs to get a bit stronger, he'll never be big, but he's fast and fiesty.
Straka has an outside shot, Hextall has been saying nice things about him.
AK has an outside shot, he has a NHL body, depends how far he's progressed.
Though I have no problem stashing Lindblom, AK and Fazleev in the AHL next year as insurance against injuries.

if you wanna keep read around for the 4th line fine thats okay, but nothing in the last two seasons suggests that he should be given top 6 minutes moving forward. He was never the same after the oblique injury if im not wrong

I've said this before, I like the sound of Leier - PEB - read. That's a good 4th line. IF konecky makes the team and we find another lw...try laughton

I'm actually intrigued to see what's going to happen when Hextall will be in the drivers seat to start signing these guys. I mean, his first few years will have been low key signings and under the radar signings.

How does he negotiate the big guys?
