We sent Koekkoek back down. I'm guessing/hoping short-term.

Why play our 3rd best defenseman when you could have PK specialist Andrej Sustr playing 5v5 minutes? Or Garrison who, I would bet, is on the way to one of, if not the, worst season of his career.

This reminds me a lot of a post I made last season that a lot of you liked. I did some research and found out that pretty much every player on our roster has steadily declined each year under Cooper. Garrison seems to be another. Great when he came in. Not so much anymore.

Don't know if it's Cooper or y'know just age and two deep playoff runs in a row.

Age? Really?

And I would agree about all the extra hockey, but it's a trend you see year to year. It's not like 3 years of great production and then it falls off a cliff. It's a steady decline akin to a ball of **** rolling down a hill.

Gotta give Nesterov his minutes.

Seems to be about Witkowski. I think all it really means is Witkowski is in tomorrow night, and Yzerman wants Koekkoek getting reps. Honestly, I don't like the idea of Witkowski vs. a team like the Pens. Vs. Vancouver, or any of the slower teams in the league, I get it. But I think he's gonna get burned so much tomorrow that Cooper will eventually just stick him to the bench.

Syracuse plays tonight and tomorrow. My guess is we see Koekkoek recalled for the road trip.

You say that as if Koekkoek doesn't get burned all the time.

One of them has upside and can keep up with the play though. If there's a choice between a good skater and a bad skater, vs. a team like the Pens, I'd like to have the guy who can move. ...Unless it's Nesterov. :p

ADD: I really don't like the headline that Koekkoek is upset about his demotion though. Cooper has got to start letting guys get experience, even if that means gift-wrapping minutes. ...Kind of like he's been doing with Brayden Point.

Richard up, Vermin down.

I like it. Vermin really went down hill after the first two games, plenty of effort needs work on his skill. Hopefully Richard finally gets a game, been long overdue.

Richard might be the first player I've ever seen willingly describe himself as a rat.

He's a pretty funny guy! He was cracking a lot of jokes during the autograph session at fanfest.

Dumb, he sucked last time he was up. Give Erne, Gourde or Peca a look.

I bet Tambellini is pissed he picked the wrong year to join the Lightning. We were healthy last year and hardly gave a Syracuse player a look, this year it seems everyone is getting a call up.

Gourde and peca too small to add to an already small lineup. Erne should be the one.

I'd like to see what gourde can do at this level.

Also think taormina should be given a chance. He has played well this year.

Agreed entirely. I feel bad for Gourde because he is probably the one who has earned a call up the most but the last thing this team needs is another small forward. Vermin and Bournival have provided bottom six energy, but they have a definite ceiling. Erne has size and speed. Sooner or later, hopefully sooner, he needs to get his cup of coffee. We could lose a left wing like Killorn/Namestnikov to Vegas or Palat for cap reason and we need to find out if Erne is a viable replacement.

Went to a cuse game last week against Hartford. Peca and Erne look reeeal good. Peca was all over the place, slippery player, drew some penalties because if it. Erne was as advertised with size good at driving the net, as well as some hands that surprised me. He had a few beauty deke's.

Defensive breakdowns reminded me of Tampa, but offensively they looked dominate. Wilcox had a bad game, let in a few softies.

Anyone know how he has looked in the AHL?

He's been solid I just think it's his "turn". Richard would be a better fit as forth line centre next game in place of Paquette. Gourde will get a call soon as will Erne. They seemed determined to give everyone a shot.

I wonder what this means, if anything, about the injury situation.
