Surely they could get rid of someone else like Lucic. Hamilton is a cornerstone piece.

I'm guessing they were seriously afraid of an offer-sheet coming in before that. At least with a trade they can get roster players back.

Apparently the Bruins might try for #3? Maybe take Hanifin as a replacement?

We probably could have had Dougie for 18, 42 and 48. Assuming we had the space to fit him in.

If I were a Bruins fan I'd be livid.

Apparently the Bruins and Hamilton were so far apart on contract numbers, Boston basically were lookin to trade him today... they were resolved to part ways.

Weird.

Has to be a big swing on condition if he signs, etc.
But if it's picks only, how did we not get Hamilton with 18, 21, and our two seconds?

Too many defenseman on our team. That is why.

We need to get rid of one before we take on another.
