So, only 10 days or something until puck drop. Since speculation is always fun, what would you like to see for our lines? What are you expecting? Will Graovac make the team? Will Coyle be a center? Will Parise - Granlund - Pominville stay together? What about Vanek? Folin or Reilly? Or Prosser?

Speculate away.

It's more a pipe dream than a realistic one:

Parise - Granlund - Niederreiter
Zucker - Koivu - Coyle
Vanek - Graovac - Pominville
Carter - Haula - Fontaine
Schroeder

Suter - Spurgeon
Brodin - Dumba
Scandella - Folin
Prosser

Zucker - Koivu - Nino
Vanek - Graovac - Coyle
Carter - Haula - Schroeder

Suter - Spurgeon
Brodin - Dumba
Scandella - Folin
Prosser

Dubnyk

If Fontaine is really going to miss the start of the season, I'd start with:

Parise - Granlund - Pommer (normal usage)
Zucker - Koivu - Coyle (high d-zone starts)
Vanek - Graovac - Nino (high o-zone starts)
Carter - Haula - Schroeder (normal usage)

Suter - Spurgeon
Brodin - Dumba
Scandella - Folin

As much as I want Nino in a top-6 role, until Fontaine is back, this would probably what I would roll as well.

If Schroeder has groin problems, and Fontaine is still out, then who comes up? Graovac.... weird question, but has Reilly ever played forward?

I'm going to post what I want, considering we all have a pretty good idea of what it will be.

Parise-Granlund-Niederreiter
Zucker-Coyle-Pominville
Vanek-Koivu-Fontaine
Carter-Haula-Schroeder

Suter-Spurgeon
Brodin-Dumba
Scandella-Folin

It hurts putting Scandella on the third paring, but I'm hoping they can all play around the same minutes, because they're all capable of playing 20+ minutes.

Talk about a line that would never score. They would spend the whole time trying to set each other up.

Koivu and Vanek should never see the ice together. Oil and Water in terms of play style.

Don't frett...Scandella being on the 3rd pairing is not going to be a traditional 3rd pairing situation at all.

He will still see 20-22 minutes/game.

Here's a reasonable way it could shake out:

Suter (24) - Spurgeon (20)
Brodin (22) - Dumba (19)
Scandella (19) - Folin (16)

Brodin plays ~17 minutes on the left side, ~5 on the right side (late in games holding the lead).

Of course, it depends mightily on Suter actually playing only 24 minutes, which has yet to be seen.

Agreed with the bold, we have heard this same sentiment in the past yet it never comes to fruition. Last year both Suter and Brodin were in the top 20 of all NHL players in TOI per game. Suter was #1 and Brodin #18. With the depth we have, I don't think we should see the same "accolades" this season but I am not ready to believe it quite yet.

What I would at least try:

Vanek-Granlund-Pominville
Parise-Koivu-Nino
Zucker-Haula-Coyle
Fontaine-Graovac-Schroeder/Carter

Suter-Dumba
Brodin-Spurgeon
Scandella-Folin

If the pairings from camp stay the pairings during the regular season, I see no way that Suter continues to play 28/29 minutes, with Brodin and Scandella behind him.

I'm not sure that Schroeder deserves a spot in the team. Am beginning to see why VAN let him go. We should've signed Brodziak, though I'm not sure that we could've got him for the 900K STL did.

Our forwards have speed, but we are small and weak compared to last year. It's gonna get ugly when we play WPG, LA, and the like.

First they have to catch up to Wild players. LA is gonna have a bad year, Lucic has looked downright brutal this pre-season.

that defense is so sexy...

Really hoping that Brodin-Dumba pairing can be so good that we could also consider them our #1 pairing, the late in the game combo that can get the puck in the net.
