Any opinions on taking Czech D-man Dominik Masin in the 2nd or 3rd?

I wouldn't have a big problem picking him with a 2nd round pick, depending on who's still available... but if he drops to the 3rd I think he'd be a steal.

Would be good value in the 3rd, imo. Hard to see him being the BPA at 36 though, imo. But I wouldn't have a huge problem taking him there barring a huge faller like Ho-Sang.

To sum up Pronman's top 10 list.

I gave the players who Pronman ranked #1 10pts, #2 9pts, #3 8pts and so on...all the way down to the #10 1pt

This will give all players a score, and will show who PRONMAN ranked the highest overall

Ekblad 27 points
Nylander 26 points
Bennett 23 points
Reinhart 20 points
Virtanen/Ritchie 19 points
MDC/Draisaitl 16 points
Ehlers/Kapanen 14 points

There's Pronman's top ten players based on those rankings.

Yeah... I never liked these.

Someone who's 1st (10 points) isn't twice as good as someone 5th (5 points) as the numbers might lead you to believe.

I see what you mean but I don't think that's the point. It's just to give numerical statistics to see how often a player is ranked at the top of the list.

note-all the % value means is how likely the players are too reach their projections ie if a player is rated 75+Pt winger with D grade they have a 25% chance of reaching, but a 75% of being a lesser player ie high risk.

Great read, enjoyed the projections and addition of the probabilities of reaching. Can't really disagree with any of the rankings, outside of a couple spots here and there (I like Bleackley and Milano a bit higher, McCann a bit lower). Thanks for the write up.

Nice list OEL. Realistic projections, which is rare to see .

Just flipping through my mckeens ad wow it blows the hockey news out of the water. I love it I recommend it along with the black book
Yes, i enjoyed it. I recommend it as well, especially with the lowered price. Substantially better quality than THN for not much more.

Last year i got THN, but never looked at it again after my first read, as there is little substance there. With McKeen's, i feel there is a lot of good info there, and their scouting staff is much more respectable IMO. Very nice to look at too.

I agree, good balance with the Blackbook.

Thanks, and your right...HF can be a runaway train of crazy when it comes to projections on player potentials.

at times projections can be too optimistic.

But Reinhart absolute upside is 65 pt? and Ekblad is at 35pt?

Even Brent Seabrook has broken the 40 pt mark a couple times. Hard to see how Ekblad has a lower upside than him.

I think the top guys are too low, but the rest of the list is very good.

Anticipating round 2.

I'd put money on 2-3 guys in the top, say 20, far exceeding their current projects when all is said and done. There's a superstar in there somewhere.

Also the projections look relevant to the scoring environment. A 65 point 1st line center is probably in the top half of the league, say a top 20 C, given how few players crack even 60 points these days.

Also given a fortunate season, any of those guys may have 1 or two years that exceed those projections, but they all look like a good measure of what these players peak 5 years will average to (if they pan out).

Yeah definitely. I think it's a very solid approach to finding the "mean" value for each of them (at least that's what it looks like to me).

Looks like you missed the "+" next to the point projections.

15 days until the draft!

One of my favorite days of the year, I usually barricade myself in my man cave glued to the computer and tv, constantly looking for new info on Canucks draftees.
