Button's Top Five Mock Draft on TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/

1) Sabres - Bennett
2) Oilers - Ekblad
3) Panthers - Dal Colle
4) Sabres - Draisaitl
5) Flames - Reinhart

I do find it more likely we would be picking Bennett then Reinhart if we had the choice at this point in time. I am happy with whoever Murray selects, but from an entertainment perspective Bennett would be the most fun to watch.

Bennett just seems to have that Toews like attitude, do anything to win and always show up. The type of player that out grows his potential. i haven't soured on Reinhart but I just think others have closed in on him. Bennett is just more of a personal preference because I like his game, I don't know who will be the better player.

I could see it going something like that. From watching alot more of these kids the second half the gap is so minimal up top. I wouldn't have Dal Colle with that top group but I could see it.

I have a lot of confidence with the Sabres drafting with Murray at the helm. Not to mention Devine has been on point with his picks the last few years. Whoever the Sabres pick I will be happy with.

I doubt Reinhart gets passed on twice. You never know though

EDIT: BananaSquad will be happy with this ;)

Aaron Ekblad a monster tonight. There are no holes in his game. Legit Top 3 pick. The next time he visits Ottawa will be as an NHL player.

Don't know enough about the candidates to say which of the elites we should select, but seems like we can't go too wrong with any choice.

I'm just thrilled that we're finally going to get a top pick who is almost certain to be, at worst, a very good player for us.

Sick of picking in the middle of the round and wasting first-rounders on the likes of Persson and Zagrapan and Kryukov who never even played an NHL game.

Since we seem to be pretty set at D (with Ristolainen, Zadorov, Pysyk, and McCabe, not to mention Myers is only 24), and since we desperately need a #1 Center, and since Edmonton desperately needs D.

Would it make sense to trade down a spot if we're 1 and Edmonton's 2, so that Edmonton can select Eckblad and we can still have our choice of either of the top two centers?

I'm sure that if were 1 and Edmonton is 2, TM will be holding that pick hostage and will tell Edmonton he will take Ekblad. I could even see him going as far as drafting Ekblad to show them it's real. Them simply walk up to them and say, draft so and so, give us this and you can have Ekblad.

Either way, I'm sure TM will be playing a huge game of chicken with MacTavish and letting him know they plan to take Ekblad, and honestly, if NYI gives us a top 4 pick I wouldn't even hate if they kept him. Seems like a can't miss player and I don't care how many good prospects we have, you can't pass on can't miss players.

Looks like Ekblad will be matching up with Baptiste and the Sudbury Wolves in 4/5 matchup of the 1st round. I'm sure those two will be seeing a lot of each other.

I dont think trading down one would net much return. If I am EDM at pick #2 and you as Buffalo GM call offering the #1, then I am pretty sure you don't want to take Ekblad. If that is the case I'm not inclined to give up anything valuable.

I doubt you would take Ekblad just to spite me. It would only work if the EDM GM genuinely thought you could go either way with Sam or Ekblad.

Doesnt hurt to make the offer though, nothing to lose.

Question: Who do you see falling/rising on draft day? The top 4 guys have been discussed ad nauseum, so who do you see climbing the rankings/falling, I think:
Falling:
Dal Colle- Similarly to Grigorenko I see many teams passing on him and I could see him falling as far as 13th.
Nylander- I think he'll eventually end up being a great player, but I also think his stock will drop on draft day and he'll end up being a mid 1st in the 12-17 area

Rising:
Ritchie-I think a team like Calgary will reach and grab him with the 4th/5th pick, I currently have him ranked 8th
Kapanen-I think he'll move up from his mid 1st position to the top 10 for sure, definitely has the skill
Fleury-I think a team in need of defense will grab him in the top 5-8 area (most have him in the 12-15 area)
Pastrnak- Currently ranked as a mid-late 1st, I think Pastrnak's offensive tools will make a team reach for him.If Detroit ends up with a 12-15 pick I could see that fit.

WhatI don't understand is how quick Button's opinion on Draisaitl changed.. how does a prospect go from 11 to 4 in one fell swoop, when Button has had him lower than most for essentially the whole year..
