How much more do you prefer Reinhart over Bennett? It seems like Bennett is starting to challenge as possible 1st overall?

From previous thread.

I'd imagine that Jame prefers Reinhart. Not to say that Bennett isn't a good prospect, but he seems to be more of a do it all himself kind of guy and that doesn't translate as well as Reinhart's high IQ style of play in the pros.

I'd love to get them both though. :)

Getting both would be a huge infusion of skill, compete and leadership.

I am starting to look at that possibility also.....if the Islanders decide to give us their 2014 pick that we use whatever assets within reason to come away with both Reinhart and Bennett....I know it's a pipe dream lol

I can see it now...if we somehow drafted both Reinhart and Bennett....a section in the First Niagara...called Sam's Club

Peterborough's Nick Ritchie has 11 goals and 24 points in his last 11 games. This coincides with their acquisition of Hunter Garlent, as Ritchie plays on a line with Garlent and Eric Cornel.

I love Sam Bennett, and really before he took off I was hoping to get him with the Islanders pick.

I was not sold on Reinhart until I saw him in the WJC. I think the guy is going to be a stud in the NHL. Type of player that makes others around him better.

Barring a late season run (without Vanek), it looks like the Islanders will be picking 3-5. Garth Snow has the potential to do some weird things. Conventional wisdom would suggest he take the 2014 pick and plan on being better in 2015. However, 2015 is likely to be a much stronger top end draft. If the Sabres end up with two of Reinhart, Ekblad, Bennett, DalColle and Draisaitl... WOW! If we get the 2015 Islanders pick and it is top 5...even better. I have to hand it to Regier for this trade.

Is it weird that I would prefer Reinhart and Draisaitl to Reinhart and Bennet? Taking into consideration what it would take to move up from, say, 6 to 3.

I understand why people have their beefs with Regier, but he really set this team up for the future. A lot of the trades he made have turned into some really good prospects for us. Girgs, Zadorov, Larsson, Compher, etc... I'm thankful he was the one to do a majority of the tear down, and laid down some of the foundation.

You can blame Darcy all you want for the constant state of mediocrity that was the Buffalo Sabres but when it was decided to sell off assets and rebuild the team into a future contender he pretty much nailed every move he made. I hope the new front office are able to continue what was started. We'll have a better sense of things after the trade deadline.

And as Woodhouse mentioned, Ritchie is on a tear. He is likely to go in the 6-8 range this year.

He's a guy I'd like if the isles happen to go on a little bit of a run and end up with a pick outside the top 5 (which they would then give to us). I also think a guy like Perlini would warrant some interest.

Yes, basically I prefer reinhart 100%

But, If the chips don't fall in our favor, I will be disappointed that we didnt get Reinahrt... but glad that there is a prospect of Bennetts caliber to fall back on.... If we came out of this draft with neither I'll be distraught.

I would have preferred the trade with Carolina to take Monahan instead of Risto, Compher and McBain but I understand the thought process that Zadorov was going to be gone by our next pick.

I am guessing that your avatar might be reflective of this if it happened. lol

If they NYI do give us their pick this year, and it is say 5, I could see the Sabres trying to use that, plus our 2nd to try and move up to 3. That is, if they really love both Bennett and Reinhart. Or they could just stay at 5 and be happy with Dal Colle/Draisaitl/Ritchie

I would hope they would be proactive in making this happen if this were the case.

Of course not. Many people see Draisaitl as having the highest upside in the draft. Bennett reminds me a lot of Kyle Turris.

Sam Reinhart 1-2-3 tonight for Kootenay in 4-2 win over Lethbridge. He has 3-11-14 last 4GP and 11-15-26 in 10 GP since WJC
