Thoughts:

1) Chances Yandle re-signs
2) Odds Giradrdi is moved this offseason?
-Next offseason?
3) Odds we can move Boyle this offseason?

4). Odds we can
-Dump Boyle/Glass
-Have McLarth on D3 in 15-16....if he does well dump Girardi after 15-16 and have

-McD, Staal, Yandle, Klein, McL, one more?

5) Sign the FA defenseman from Minnesota that Columbus drafted?

Don't have to worry about resigning Yandle until after next season. I see no reason why they wouldn't do what they can to keep this top 6 D together for at least one more full season. If someone offers something decent for Boyle at the draft, consider it, but otherwise take another run with potentially the best D corps in the league.

MSL retires

Stepan gets his raise
Hagelin gets his raise
Buchnevich gets a shot in camp

Game on.

Why would you keep Boyle with that cap hit?
Move him and Hartford Glass.

Talbot's stock just keeps rising...

:handclap:

He would've impressed lots of people around the league over the last 6-7 games. His first 6-7 games after Hank went down the team was carrying him. Last 6-7 games he's been playing lights out. I can see Oilers forking out their late 1st for him. I take that and run.

Does Jesper Fast want to stay in NA? I would be very suprised if he didn't, but ...

What makes you think this? AV loves him, and he's been a great bottom-6 winger for us?

What? Why?

Yeah, I don't get why that would even be a question. I could see it if he still couldn't snag a full-time spot by the end of the season (and end of his ELC), but he seems to have cemented himself in the lineup. He gets fair usage and icetime for a rookie.

Why wouldn't he? He's cemented a bottom 6 role and sees considerable PK time. If he shows more offense, I'm sure the coach will move him up. He did see some time with Hayes and Hags yesterday. The only bad thing about him playing in NA is that he plays with Glass.

Rangers fans always whine about not producing home grown bottom 6 forwards? Well there's one for you.

Move him and Hartford Glass.

I'm not a huge fan of Boyle, but I keep him because we can. Unless someone offers fair value AND an equal replacement becomes available, I personally stick with the lineup that currently has the best winning percentage in the NHL.

If Glass can be moved for cap/roster space, I do that as well.

The key, to me, is simply recognizing that MSL is finished, thanking him for his contributions, and moving on. I do NOT want to see younger, versatile players like Hagelin or Klein sacrificed to make room to resign MSL or to recover draft picks.

Minor point, but doesn't the bolded belong one line above? Unless I'm misremembering, we lost the 7th rounder in the TB trade last year, not the AZ trade this year.

The Canadian dollar finally broke on the downside after trading in range since late January. How low will it go? Three more months until the loonie is converted to US dollars. Bettman says not to worry but every dollar counts when you're an upper limit team like the Rangers. What about the 16-17 cap?

The US dollar is getting stronger and stronger. That is not good for the loonie and the NHL. Even the Euro has tanked and is expected to tank more. I saw a report about the Euro being .85 cents to the US dollar by 2017.

Depends, for just his last RFA year? Probably about what he'd get through arbitration anyway.

His UFA years, much more difficult question but what is the alternative and how much would that cap hit be?

Completely theoretical and just for the fun of some discussion...if Edmonton landed the number 1 pick would you trade :

Stepan,
Hagelin,
Talbot,
and say our 2nd or Mcilrath

for

The pick i.e. Conor Mcdavid????

Talbots stock rising, and the Oilers need to fill a variety of wholes and good sound role players too...maybe they bite..they already have lots of skill...not that Mcdavid would be bad to add obviously...
