Hmm, maybe I'm mixing it up. I thought if he played more than 9(?) games in the NHL it counts as a season and burns a year off his ELC. Similar to what the team did with Smith-Pelly.

At around the 1:30 mark of the video Don Cherry starts talking about how well Nick Ritchie is doing in the playoffs right now, and how dumb it was for Toronto not to have picked him in last year's draft. Nice to hear.

Naw, man. he's been injured for quite a while now, he needs to have at least one healthy season in SD before making the Ducks.
