2014-15 Wild Predictions

Jarick

Doing Nothing
Season's getting ready to start, let's have some fun.

For the Wild, make three safe predictions, and three surprising predictions.

Then try and predict (for the Wild again), the following trophies:

Art Ross (point leader)
Rocket Richard (goal leader)
Norris (best defenseman)
Calder (best rookie)
Vezina (best goalie)
Selke (best defensive forward)
Lady Byng (best sport)
Hart (MVP)

Safe:

- Suter leads the league in ice time again.
- Granlund scores 18 + 50 = 68 points.
- We'll have three 30 goal scorers (Vanek, Parise, Pominville).

Surprising:

- Dumba stays up the whole season and is one of our best offensive D-men.
- Bäckström stays healthy and plays a strong season, splitting the starts with Kuemper. His last hurrah on top level.
- Our PP is 7th in the league, but our team defense takes a hit this season and we allow more goals; still 13rd in the league for goals against.

Trophies:

Art Ross - Pärisee (77)
Rocket Richard - Vanek (34)
Norris - Suter
Calder - Dumba
Vezina - Tie between Kuemper/Bäckström
Selke - Koivu
Lady Byng - Granlund
Hart - Suter

just the surprises...

Dumba ends the season playing ~17 minutes per night, because...
...Suter misses 20+ games

Granlund is a point per game player.

Cooke goes controversy-free.

Coyle is our most productive player behind Koivu per minute 5v5.

If Brodin takes the Norris, I have a hard time seeing Suter as the MVP. IMO Suter would need the Norris at minimum for that JMO.

Here's a few predictions of my own...bold safe or otherwise....

Granlund is the MVP (20+52)
Parise the points leader (33+45)
Pominville leads in goals (35)
Dumba and Folin make the team and stay up all season, Dumba gets the Calder between the two.
The Wild have 3 players over 30 goals (Parise, Pominville, Vanek), and another 4 with 20+ (Granlund, Niederreiter, Haula, Koivu)
Backstrom gets traded by the end of the season.
