This is very true. First 30-40 games are going to be finding that identity. In fact, Johnston already said he's progressing the system into play. So they don't even have the full reigns yet on it.

The players are going to have to find that chemistry and flow. It's going to be tricky at first. Personally, I think a lot of games will be low scoring and people will start to whine, but in the end we will see it make a huge difference in the playoffs.

95-105 is my expectation, but his game will be better than ever.

Why? With a new coach, new linemates, and a new system, it wouldnt surprise me to see Sid have 15pts after the first 25 games (sprinkled in with more losses than wins).

Only for him to kick it into high gear, get 83 in the last 57 games (a pretty ridiculous pace) and still win the scoring race.

110 points is incredibly hard to achieve these days. It would easily make it his best season. Not saying he can't do it, but to be disappointed if he doesn't seems a bit much.

I have a feeling Crosby will get just under 100 Points this season. The problem is he's not had 4 Points or more in a game in the past 89 games (playoffs + regular season). This is the longest that he's ever gone without at least a 4 Point night in his career. The last time he had 4 Points was October 12 2013 against Tampa bay. If he doesn't put up 4 Points against Toronto next game he will go over a year without 4 Points in a game. It's almost impossible to put up 120 Points or more if you can't put up 4 Points or more in some of the games.

To get 100pts, he needs to score at a pace of 1.2ppg (something he has done every .. single .. year .. in the league). He doesnt need to score 4 pts ever again in his entire career.

Im not saying he will or wont get 100pts. Its possible he doesnt. But it certainly wont be because he didnt have a 4pt game this season.

Last year was the only time Crosby hit 100 Points while only having 1 4 Point night. He's had multiple 4 Point nights every other time he's hit 100. In 2005-06 and 2008-09 he wouldn't have made it to 100 Points if those 4 + point nights were just 3 point nights.

Putting up 4 points or more in a game helps a lot when you need to score over 100 points in a season. Crosby will go pointless in some games this season so having a couple of huge nights would help a lot, especially if he wants to get 110-120 Points.
