Was Sustr qualified, or they working on a multi year deal? Capgeek has him as RFA for 14/15

I have not seen enough games to really make an opinion on Purcell like you guys have, but his numbers don't seem bad at all. Prior to this season he has put up excellent numbers and he is still in his prime.

Is the parenthetical (forwards) Joe Smith's addition? It seems like moving Brewer or Carle (and slotting Garrison into their vacated spot) would accomplish similar financial flexibility as moving Purcell if there was something else specifically Yzerman wanted to add to the D.
Also, with regards to Ohlund's LTIR thing. You can spend up to 10% over the cap during the offseason, get cap compliant for day 1 by waiving a higher paid player you won't miss for a day, shift injuretired player back to LTIR, and recall your waiver fodder (now without fear of 1/2 off re-entry waivers). Yzerman won't push it that close. He'll have a cushion of a million or more plus Ohlund's 3.6 below the cap for flexibility during the season.
The tank is on in Buffalo. They aren't even trying to hide it.
Just like Cally is way more than his numbers, Purcell is way less.

stevies going all in. Well said he wasnt done didnt think it would go like this im kinda stumped
got to assume orpik niskanen erhoff someone major a number 2 is coming.
got to figure marleau might be in play and we might not be done moving salaries
nate dawg we love you and will miss you and are shocked it came earlier than expected for sure.
Yeah. I'm thinking this might be bigger than we expect. We moved 3 forwards in one day. I'm no longer thinking we're only interested in a defenseman.
