I have not seen enough games to really make an opinion on Purcell like you guys have, but his numbers don't seem bad at all. Prior to this season he has put up excellent numbers and he is still in his prime.

Just like Cally is way more than his numbers, Purcell is way less.

I don't think there's a place for Ehrhoff with us , because its highly unlikely that Teddy will go anywhere, as much as we would like him to go, GM's probably aren't as interested of him as they could be because many teams in need of secondary scoring are putting a lot of hope for 2015 draft, and are therefore postponing their plans of improvement.

And I don't get the hype for Stralman, he isn't THAT much better than Garrison.
And when someone mentions Stralman doing fine vs quality opposition its not entirely true for he only gets matched against secondary scoring, and compared to for example Fayne, who manned the Devils top pairing for third year, he isn't even anything special defensively.

So I would definitely pick Fayne for us if were talking about getting a partner for Hedman now and not next year.

Is the parenthetical (forwards) Joe Smith's addition? It seems like moving Brewer or Carle (and slotting Garrison into their vacated spot) would accomplish similar financial flexibility as moving Purcell if there was something else specifically Yzerman wanted to add to the D.

Also, with regards to Ohlund's LTIR thing. You can spend up to 10% over the cap during the offseason, get cap compliant for day 1 by waiving a higher paid player you won't miss for a day, shift injuretired player back to LTIR, and recall your waiver fodder (now without fear of 1/2 off re-entry waivers). Yzerman won't push it that close. He'll have a cushion of a million or more plus Ohlund's 3.6 below the cap for flexibility during the season.

I hope we didn't bring in Garrison just to move Brewer out and play him on the bottom pair. I don't think Garrison is an upgrade on Carle so wouldn't make the team any better moving out one for the other. We are better having them all on the team.

I see it as something like this.

Drouin - Johnson - Stamkos
Palat - Filppula - Callahan
Killorn- Gagner - Kucherov
Paquette - Thompson - Brown
Crombeen

Hedman -ACQUISITION
Carle - Gudas
Brewer - Garrison
Barberio

Bishop
ACQUISITION/Gudlevskis

I just dont see Connolly cracking this lineup. Panik would be the first call up for the top 9.

Give Sustr big minutes in 'Cuse

Yeah. I'm thinking this might be bigger than we expect. We moved 3 forwards in one day. I'm no longer thinking we're only interested in a defenseman.

Spezza/Stastny? Hoping something big just because I'm tired of the Pens and Bruins winning every year. Like to see the Blue and White take over, even if it is a different blue and white

With the 3 trades tonight, TB saved $5,583,333 in cash and $5,650,000 in cap space; plus added a 4th, a 6th and a 7th round pick.

Not bad SFY

I'm sorry but the thought of gifting a spot to Paquette and signing someone to play over their head (Niskanen) would make me sick. Absolutely brutal if that's what plays out.

Don't be surprised if the wheeling-and-dealing TBLightning go after veteran centre Dominic Moore.

I wouldn't be shocked if we're not even finished tonight. Seems weird that this rush of deals went down in such quick succession just to clear cap-space.
