Best Case Scenario for the Leafs is as follows:

Sign one of Weiss or Bozak for not a penny more then what Lecavalier got. Lecavalier even on the decline as some insist he is, is far better then both Bozak and Weiss.

After signing one of the two, you trade Grabovski. He still has value, and is just playing under the wrong system. A team like Florida, Nashville, Columbus or even Detroit can use him. He is young by hockey standards on the South Side of 30, offensively gifted and good defensively as he proved this year. He should be a number one center on all those teams mentioned other then Detroit.

You trade John Michael-Liles who still has value as an offensive defenseman and PP pointman. He can be traded to Edmonton, Carolina, Columbus, NYI, or Detroit. All of these teams need upgrades on what they have already in defence.

Then with cap money saved you sign Clarkson as a UFA. Boyd Gordon as a UFA. Resign Clarke McCarther for your offence. On defence you sign Scuderi as a UFA. Left over cap goes in the kitty for a rainy day.

If Philly was considering moving Couturier would you guys consider Gunnar + Gauthier + MacWilliam? or Percy if they insist. Send Grabo to Nashville (with 1.5mm retained) for Blum or Klein (hopefully Klein). Sign Clarkson and Boyd Gordon.

There seems to be some confusion as to how teams are able to contact players so here is why- as per the last CBA all contracts expired July 1st but they cannot sign until July 5th which allows teams to talk to all UFAs a few days before they can sign them in July 5th which will be the new expiration date from now on.

No ones confused.
