NHL Entry Draft: 2012 Re-Draft

yes, as everyone should. He's played on the top pairing all season and played extremely well. Lindholm is in the same boat.
I disagree. I don't think Rielly is a top pairing guy right now. Look at all the team's and tell me which teams he would be a top pairing guy on. I'm sure it's not many. Just because he is in Toronto, isn't saying much.

From a non-leafs fans who watches quite a few leafs games - he is. Not a #1 yet, but top-pairing.

only teams I would say he's not a top pairing Dman for would be Calgary, Chicago, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis, San Jose.

I think an argument can be made for him to be a top pairing D-Man on every other team in the league.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's a #1 yet but to say he's not a top pairing DMan is simply ignorance.

I think Edmonton should have absolutely gone with Rielly or Murray at number 1, they needed D, I'm just happy because Galchenyuk fell to us. I do believe he would have challenged for 1st overall if he had played the entire year.

way too early to make 2012 re-draft, for example Sedins made their real breakthrough 7 years after their draft

I thought this was an interesting topic to revisit since this was considered a weak draft. Even though I can't see a Goalie getting taken that high anymore. Looking at the kind of historic Rookie season Ghostisbere had, It's hard to say he hasn't outperformed his peers.

1-Shayne Gostisbehere
2-Filip Forsberg
3-Olli Maatta
4-Alex Galchenyuk
5-Colton Parayko
6-Morgan Rielly
7-Hampus Lindholm
8-Jacob Trouba
9-Ryan Murray
10-Matt Murray

Maatta and Parayko should be below Rielly and Lindholm who should be flipped.

I'd say Lindholm is still the best defenseman from this draft but hard to counter against the year Ghost Bear just had.

as a leafs fan who was disappointed we didn't get Galchenyuk. I can pleasantly say (as of now) we got the best player from this draft.

some of these guys I won't pretend to know a lot about but my top 10 who I would want, regardless of position need:

1. Morgan Rielly
2. Hampus Lindholm
3. Filip Forsberg
4. Alex Galchenyuk
5. Jacob Trouba
6. Olli Maata
7. Tomas Hertl
8. Ryan Murray
9. Nail Yakupov
10. Teuvo Teravainen

wrong you got the 3rd best

No Brady Skjei? Was one of the Rangers best players when he came up last year and should step into a top 4 role this year. Don't see how he moves out of the first. Right now some Rangers fans consider him a better prospect than Buchnevich.

2. Lindholm
3. Forsberg
4. Trouba
5. Vasilevskiy
6. Parayko
7. Murray

wasn't Grigorenko considered a top 3 talent pre-draft? I think that says about all that needs to be said. The best players from 2012 ended up being the longshots.

His stock collapsed in the QMJHL playoffs. He was out of practically all of the top 5's by the time the draft came along. Very similar to how Chychrun's year played out.

Didn't include Gostisbehere or Parayko due to them definitely going pretty high in a 2011 re-draft.

Only 6 more years until Jankowski is the best player in the draft.

WTF is this BS? This is the worst re-draft I have ever seen. Ghost so low at 27? TT so high at 6? I have no idea what you are basing this on, because it's not based on performance and doesn't appear to be based on potential either
