I doubt Beckenbauer would be a CB today. More a midfielder. Baresi, yes plus Maldini.Baresi and Beckenbauer are the easy choices here.
I consider a libero to be a CB. I've always considered Maldini to be a LB as he spent most of his prime there but he was GOAT at CB later in his career too.I doubt Beckenbauer would be a CB today. More a midfielder. Baresi, yes plus Maldini.
That's correct, but the style back then was different. one center back and one libero playing behind him.I consider a libero to be a CB. I've always considered Maldini to be a LB as he spent most of his prime there but he was GOAT at CB later in his career too.
Nest that baconwho that.... no love for Burdisso? Or Fazio. Rojo? these legends?
Meh.Voted Baresi and Beckenbauer.
HM to Cannavaro and Nesta. The greatest CB duo of all time.
Meh.
Best defense of all time was Thuram-Desailly-Blanc-Lizarazu
And? You don't consider those two as all time CBs?Best defense. Not best CB duo.
Maldini-Costacurta-Baresi-Tassotti easily.Meh.
Best defense of all time was Thuram-Desailly-Blanc-Lizarazu
Maldini and Baresi are both at worst top 2 all time in their respective positions. Costacurta and Tassotti were both world class at the time as well.I don't think 'easily' is ever really the case when speaking about 'greatest of all time'.
Plus the best defence of all time is going to go down as Bakker - van Dijk - de Ligt - Dumfries.
Nope.Maldini-Costacurta-Baresi-Tassotti easily.
Because back to back European cups (including a 6-1 aggregate thumping of Madrid) means nothing huh?Nope.
Easily the other way, they've proven it.
