On the plus side, Dallas has been completely destroying Colorado thus far at even strength. The Avalanche have the momentum but the Stars do have the better team.

So in otherwords, like last year for the first two periods, anyway...

Pretty much just standing around this period and launching shots from the blue line that aren't going through

Not that hard to lose to a team when you continually give their top forwards 15 feet of space in the offensive end.

If a team that has continuously improved its roster since 2013 is left scrambling against a less-than-stellar opponent and gives up 5 goals after leading 3-1, then all fingers ought to point to coaching decisions.

When the Avalanche and Stars have faced each other since 2013/2014…

Stars have attempted 120 more shots than the Avalanche
Stars have 32 more shots on goal than the Avalanche
Stars have 62 more scoring chances than the Avalanche
Stars have 25 more scoring chances from high danger areas (AKA the slot) than the Avalanche

…But Colorado is outscoring Dallas 43 to 27 and have been victorious 10 of the above mentioned 11 games.

Theoretically, Dallas should be doing a lot better in goal differential and should have more than a single lonely win against Colorado over the past couple of years, they certainly seem to be outplaying them, but the results just aren't there…Finding different ways to lose and then recreating those ways year after year. Maybe the Avs just have our number, I guess everybody just has that one team they can’t buy a win against, but it’s been frustrating as hell to watch over the past couple years.

Edit: Just for the record, this post was largely in response to a post made by a visiting Avs fan which has since been deleted, the original context of this post was not meant to in any way bash Colorado. To LT, if this edit in any way violates or undermines your regulation, feel free to delete this post.

Now in this particular game, Dallas collapsed and had no business winning that game with the way they played over the last 26ish minutes of the game. Tale of two different teams between the first and second halves of the game, which seems to be a storyline Dallas fans are all too familiar with.

Credit to the Aves though, they made crisp hard passes right on the tape and made the Stars pay. Successfully found the soft spots in the zone…which were somehow right in front of the Dallas net…and got the 2 points because of it.

How has Klingberg looked so far? A look at his stats shows he's been pretty invisible but I know those aren't the whole story.
