Puck barley off his stick and that's how close Namestnikov is.

Kuch does put his shoulder into Namestnikov, but what the **** else is he supposed to do? Just let someone level him?
Kuch is merely bracing for impact (self defense) which is just a natural reflex. Not Kuch's fault that Vlad has terrible balance despite the fact that it was him who initiated contact.

BTW who else tried to click the play button over and over?

I refereed for 30 yrs. In no universe was that an illegal play in any manner. By definition you cannot interfere with another player if you are in possession of the puck, which Kucherov was - also by definition - when the collision took place. I won't even say it was a good no call. No call should have even been considered. Eddie Olcyzk was way out of line with his comments.

What should have been called was the interference with Tyler Johnson earlier in the OT that probably would have resulted in a breakaway. Didn't hear Olcyzk whining about that one.

Oh my God...

Matthelangelo Watson, is that you?

Last year there was a poster with the name Matt Watson I think it was. He would come in and talk about how superior his knowledge was over everybody because he was a referee for years. I think its fine to talk about being a ref and how you are knowledgeable on the subject but the smug attitude to go with it just turned everybody off. Just done in the worst way imo.

The problem is that when you play that way, that's when you get injured. Soft, disinterested, head down, unaware, and BAM. You get run over. If Coop wants to sit some guys here and there, I'm good with that. But playing soft never works.
You are correct but they weren't playing all that soft , just not using that extra gear they have in what was basically a meaningless game for them.

Hope I didn't come across that way. It was just so clear cut to me that there was no hint of a penalty on that play.

Yeah, I don't think it should have been called, I just don't like that kind of play generally. It annoys me when teams use it against us, and I'd prefer not to see it at all in a really nitpicky sort of way. As for Olczyk, he's a clown. I didn't hear him say that because I watch NBC games on mute if they're not using Peckham or Engblom.

I love that kind of play (one where we score the game winning goal). Didn't really see any issue whatsoever with the play. Kuch dropped the puck and contact was made between Vladdy and Kuch prior to Heddy touching the puck. Wasn't even close to an illegal/shady play. Not Kuch's fault that Vladdy wasn't quick enough to recognize the play and avoid Kuch. That's my two cents on it anyway.
