Yep. I guess the only reason I can come up with for the rash of toss-outs post lockout is some desire to create more penalties from throwing two guys out on the same team. There's no other explanation. And I agree with the delay of game idea too. Case in point was Komarov a week ago. A few long shifts followed by icings, so he gets orders to pretend he doesn't know who's taking the faceoff (Grabovski was on the ice) then comes swooping in and doesn't even attempt to win the faceoff. Intentionally just swipes over the dot before the linesman was hunched over. What was that other than an obvious stall for time? The NHL needs to change the rules to take this **** out, or we'll be seeing it every game. It's turning into a major pet peeve of mine.

You know it's bad when your center gets booted to start the period

Such a shame that we have to give J. Staal sub par linemates. It really showed.

He's at his best when he is streaking down the side, shrugging off the Mark Stuart's like nothing, and creating space for his talented wingers.

Tlusty was great.

Considering Murphy was playing in the OHL yesterday, he looked great. That great has the asterisk of expected improvement.

Semin played another great game. Not only did he play well, but his effort and discipline is obvious. He hasn't played poorly thus far and has disspelled every myth viciously labeled upon him. Eric on the other hand, while also playing well this season, has had several lapses that if commited by Semin would have had some saying, "see, there's your typical Semin coming out." Understanding that money is tight, even the slightest notion that Alex Semin shouldn't be kept around is absurd. Everything possible needs to be done to make him a permanent Hurricane. Worry about how to obtain the other pieces but Semin must stay. I really believe that we are seeing a special player that will only get better yet, with a little more time. His presence may result in the funds to obtain other pieces needed for the team. And by the way, the idiotic Canadian Media is still ignoring Semin and ignorantly refuse to discuss him when talking about the Canes success so far. It's the Staal brothers only. Really pathetic and shameful bunch of know it all yapping heads.

So the catch is that as soon as someone comes back, even if we'd rather play Murphy over them, we have to send Murphy back?

Seeing him today, I'd take him over Sangs OR Jordan at this point, early season Corvo as well.

Had much better ice awareness and used his stick much more effectively than I would've imagined. I thought he'd get eaten up, I really did, he's so small. Obviously has speed and knows how to use it, is effective with his stick along the boards so as to make up for his lack of physicality, and with the offensive tools to boot? Heck he even helped kill off a 5-on-3 today, played the 2nd most time of anyone on the team!

Glaring bright spot in a tough game to swallow.

I want to add that if Alex Semin continues to have a good season, and I believe he will, why not make him another long term franchise player? Some have thrown out numbers like two, three and at most four years. Jordan et al, are being considered to be in Carolina to stay for their careers. Why not Alex Semin unless you have indeed bought into the fallicies and what-ifs about him? Like I said before, it all can't be done in one year. The other neccassary parts can and will come but letting Alex Semin walk away from this club is a back step IMO. Bend over backwards if need be, because finding another hockey player like him in his prime will prove to be very difficult. In what 14 games (?), all things considered, what more do fans want? A bit of luck and those ten posts could be 8 or so more goals.

This section will be received with bitterness, but I agree completely.

Yea Eric's always been hotheaded and taken bad penalties but this year it seems like every single game in which we're down late he manages to take himself and his talents to the penalty box.

What's the punishment for not sending Murphy back? Not saying they shouldn't send him back, just wondering what the ramifications would be?

The NHL won't let him play. He's an ineligible player. It'd be like trying to dress Sidney Crosby for the Hurricanes tomorrow night.

I think we can all agree Cam had a horrible night. But he isn't a total sieve. He's having a rough year, but look around, other goalies in his league are too. Ryan Miller isn't doing that great. The Vezina winner in Quick is having a rough go, etc. To imply that he is just a mediocre goale is assinine. He had a horrible night and seems to be facing some kind of demons this season. Even so, I'd still take him as my #1 goalie, but with that said, until he can refocus and fight whatever is going on, I'd start Ellis back to back this weekend unless he himself just ***** the bed Saturday.

Semin's pass to Tlusty was worth the price of admission. That was just amazing.

Murphy I thought did well for his debut. He seemed comfortable joining the rush and with the puck. Kid has great speed. Needs work on his own end, but he's only 19, that will come. Future on D looks bright with him and Faulk.

And people stop being amateurs and doing the freakin WAVE.
