There is only 1 way I would do this if Detroit got the top pick. First of all Montreal would have to be in the number 2 or 3 pick position. Detroit would not trade out of the top 3.

The deal would be for Montreal's first round pick, Romanov (with an agreement in place that he would come over next season) and Montreal's 2nd round pick.
