I’m a strong advocate of allowing a goalie to play his way out of it. I think a lot of teams expect too much, and pull the plug too early on guys who are going through normal slumps. Usually a team’s defensive issues run a lot deeper than just the guy in net.

But Raanta is looking completely cooked this season. The guy is 35 with a ton of injury history. That goal just now, a sharp goalie doesn’t come close to allowing that one. Rants is an awesome dude and I want to see him succeed, but I think we’re possibly watching his last season in the NHL and probably shouldn’t be planning on finishing the season with him on the roster.
