Scoring is a nice bonus, but Schroeder's speed is valuable against a fast team both on the forecheck and the backcheck. You can have all the will, strength, and guts in the world, but if you can't get there in time they're of no use.
That's part of what is making Zucker so effective now, makes Haula so important to the team, and is a part of NYR's success.
I just don't like Schroeder's game overall. He has a ton of speed, but plays just seemed to die on his stick. Linemates, usage, being the smallest guy on an already small/soft team.
Maybe BB is the coach he needs and will play him to his strengths? My opinion of Granny has certainly gone up this year.
