That was a weak call. Ranger player tried to take a shot at the puck and tied up Sergachev in the process.

We had a strong 15 minutes, then decided the Rangers weren't worth playing hard against.

That was a crap period but I'm not surprised, I wasn't expecting them to show up against the Rangers. Vasi looks good tonight though

As Pierre said, Maroon never came back. Makes this game that much more important for Verhaeghe to hold off any possible idea at an injury call up. Fwiw Gemel Smith has 7 points in 6 games and Volkov has 3 points in his first 3 games back down in Syracuse.

What are the odds we send him down? Do you think any other teams have Dom's Chart and claim him?

The good thing is he's progressing and he's got the rest of the season to work on his game. For me, the real deal is the playoffs which is obviously a different animal. He's got to get to the point where he can take playoffs shifts, and he's responsible enough defensively where you're not holding him on the bench for spot duty.
We are not going anywhere unless our stars show up in the playoffs. Adding a tough AHL player will not move the needle in any way. Maroon has some attributes Witkowski does not. IMO.

This team is so boring to watch. I thought we had a lot of skill but right now I’m not too sure. With Kucherov playing badly it’s easy to see how painfully average most of our forwards are.

Idk. Right now with the current line up, he's the 13th forward and essentially the new Danick Martel and that's a safe position to hold. But with openings caused by injuries, he's got to prove himself and hold off any challengers clawing for the opportunity down in the AHL.

If it's a day-to-day situation, maybe it doesn't matter, but if it's a long term thing, then I think you look at all options.

Hard to think it's anything but a concussion.

Let's see what Volkov can do.

Elsewhere Caps lead Leafs 2-1 & Muzzin takes a run in from Wilson

And Boston is taking it to San Jose 5-1. Shots 33-11.

Don't like Volkov in that role. Would rather bring up Gemel if it comes down to it. Roll the dice on if he gets picked up if we send him down after.

Something to consider too is we have a trip to Sweden coming up. Bolts need to have their roster in order before they cross the pond.

Who cares, any NHL time is good for a prospect looking to make the jump. He's not going to break the top-6 right away, starting small and seeing if he can create at the NHL level is fine.
